Hard Wiring Radar Detector

Hey guys,

I want to hard wire in my radar detector to the my 2001 F150 XLT and I was wondering the best way to approach it.

I have the digital compass in the center above the rear view mirror and I took appart that whole bit but didn't know if the current was strong enough to split at that point between the detector and compass. In addition, if it were strong enough, there are either 6 or 8 different wires all different colors and I wouldnt know which one to tap into to draw power from it. I saw a red/grey one which stuck out the most as a possible power wire but I don't want to go tapping into wires randomly. Thanks for any help.

Take a search using your title and :
https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=107801

This is with the mount using the console in the roof, with the map lights.

Is this what you are referring to ?
