Remote Start help/problems

HI, I've done many searches on here for my problem, but haven't seen this one listed. The vehicle I'm installing this on is a 06 Supercrew. I bought a CrimeStopper Cool Start RS-1304dp, and also have the PATS bypass PFK-3 or something like that (its in the garage, working from memory). I have just finished connecting all of the wires to where the book/wiring diagram say to and left the ground connection for last. When I go to connect the unit the ground with everything plugged in the horn starts blowing constantly. So, just checking to see if everythign else worked but that, I cut that wire and regrounded. Now when I connect the ground the truck kind of powers up like when you turn your key to the on position, and then the wipers came on after about 3 or 4 seconds and started sparying, then stopped. I'm assuming I have some wires connected wrong, but they are hooked according to the charts as far as I can tell. Anyone have any ideas? Hopefully I don't have it so screwed up to where is wont even work anymore...

Thanks!

Oh, and also, do I need to install the hood ground pin? The pin where it wont start with the hood open? I couldnt' find a good place to mount it so I did not wire that up. Also, when I went to program the IPK-3 bypass, step 3 says to jump the ignition, what exactly are they talking about?

Thanks again!

Oh, and one other thing I noticed is that the security light on the dash started blinking really fast when I connected everything.

Your connections to your ignition seem wrong. I'm being a nice guy today and will shoot you an install guide for your system. Your wiper issue concerns me and I don't want something going wrong with your tuck.

ALWAYS GROUND YOUR SYSTEM FIRST!!! I ground to the black with blue stripe ground wire found in the drivers kick panel.

Connect your BROWN starter wire to the RED with Blue stripe starter wire at the ignition harness

Connect your GRAY heater wire to the BLACK with GREEN stripe heater wire at your ignition.

Connect your PINK ignition wire to the BLUE with GREEN stripe ignition wire at your ignition.

CUT the PINK with WHITE on your system. It's not needed because there is no 2nd ignition

Connect your YELLOW with WHITE stripe horn wire to the BLUE wire located in the harness coming from the steering wheel clock spring.

Connect your two RED contant wires to the GREEN with VIOLET stripe 12 volt constant wire at the ignition harness.

Connect your PURPLE brake wire to the LIGHT GREEN wire in the drivers kick panel harness that runs in the track to the back. This wire will turn your test light on or show 12 volts when you press the brake.

Connect your GREEN lock output wire to the PINK with YELLOW stripe wire in the kick panel harness that runs to the track to the back. This wire will show some voltage but goes to ground when you hit the lock button on the door. Some test lights will pulse the wire instantly when touched.

Connect your BLUE unlock output wire to the PINK with GREEN stripe wire in the kick panel harness that runs to the track to the back. This wire will show some voltage but goes to ground when you hit the lock button on the door. Some test lights will pulse the wire instantly when touched.

Connect your RED with WHITE stripe tach sensing wire to any fuel injector wire that is not RED or BROWN. All injectors share a common wire. You want to connect to the one that is different.

Hood switch is totally up to you. I never use them but with some systems you my have to ground it to similate the hood being open so that you can program tach.

PROGRAM YOUR TACH USING THE INSTRUCTIONS SUPPLIED IN YOUR INSTALLATION MANUAL.

I ALWAYS VERIFY THAT THE SYSTEM IS WORKING AND STARTING THE VEHICLE WITH THE KEY LEFT IN THE IGNITION BEFORE MOVING ON TO THE BYPASS MODULE.!!!

BYPASS MODULE INSTALLATION.

Your RX and TX wires are located at the green plug going into the large black ring that wraps around your ignition. Your PKF3 bypass should have a sheet telling you the pins but I always remember it as the Green goes to the White with Green stripe wire. And the Pink wire goes to the Green with Orange Stripe wire.

I think that should get you going.

Hood pin you can just leave off, as when the hood is open it goes to ground so if not hooked up it won't be at ground.

Most all of the smaller guage wires can be left off. The main 6 wires for the remote start, the ground, the tach, and the brake light sensor are the only absolutes I believe. The others, like lock/unlock, horn, etc are not necassary, so you can worry about them later after the main install is completed and error free!

Thank you for the reply, I'm glad you decided to be a nice guy cause I really appreciated your info! I had all of the wires connected correctly (minus the lock and unlock, I left that unconnected for now) except i found one major problem, and that was I had the red wire from the 3 pin connector (lock and unlock) connected to a 12 v power supply, which was incorrect. I now see its a 12v power supply to a relay (which I dont' have) So now I have 2 questions. The first one being do you think that ruined my remote start module? I only ask because I have since hooked it up again and it is unresponsive to the program button that you have to press so many times to switch modes and ect. Also, the first time I hooked it up, I think i put the 3 pin connector in the antenna outlet (got to carried away). And if you think I ruined the module what would you recommend me doing? Buying the identical one or is there a better option?

My second questions is about the lock and unlock wires.. I am having a hard time locating these. The 2 wires that I have found are at the green connector in the driver side kick panel. There are 3 connectors in this area next to the hood release lever, the green one, a grayish one and a black relay. Is this the correct wires and location? There is a Pink/yellow and Pink/Green there, but they show no voltage what so ever? I think these are the incorrect ones, but I don't know where to look for the correct ones.

I lied, I have one more question, I know this is the electrical forum, but does anyone happen to know how to reinstall the lower steering wheel column panel in an 06 F150? I have searched on here but haven't found it, the panel was a pain to get out and now I can't get it back in.

I appreciate everyones help!

Question 1: I can only hope that nothing got hurt. Shouldn't have hurt the system if you hooked the 12 volts ouput to a 12 volt wire on the lock harness. Could have possibly damaged something when you connected to the antenna port. Did you make sure you grounded the GRAY hood switch wire. This must be done to access programming if you haven't hooked up a hood pin. Maybe this is what is keeping you from getting into programming?

If there is a problem with the unit then hopefully you can have it warrantied if you purchased it from a vendor. If from ebay or something like that....good luck.

QUESTION 2: Lock and Unlock are found in the harness that runs through the track going to the back of the truck. You will have to cut the tape out of the way and you will find them close together. Usually to the left side of the large harness bundle. Should only be one PINK/YELLOW and PINK/GREEN but ALWAYS TEST using my tips above.

Qustions 3: Cut the lip off of the column piece that tucks under the steering wheel. You cannot see it once the piece is back in place since the wheel covers it.

Thanks again for your replies! Question 1. It was purchased from Ebay so i'm probably S.O.L on that.. I did have the hood latch wire grounded and still nothing.. I'll give it one more shot but it'll probably have to wait til next weekend.

Question 2. Thanks for the pictures!, I have them hooked to the wrong one, I think I have them hooked to the wipers, which would explain them coming on and off..

Question 3. Thanks, this helps a ton, I didn't even think about cutting the end off!

Ok, I have one last final question.. I am goign to retry this again tomorrow but I wanted to make sure I had my tach source correct. Does anyone have a picture of this area? I have mine wired up to a brown and black stripe wire coming off of the fuel injector, there were 2 wires, a red and I believe white and this brown and black one. I'm assuming this is correct, but am not sure. Also, can I test this with my multi meter or no? Thanks for all of the help!
