Electrical System gone mad

My 99 f150 King Ranch has been an awsome vehicle. We haven't been driving it for the past two weeks. I went to the truck and the battery was dead, I guessed that my wife left the interrior lights on. Charged the battery went into town, did not have any problems. When I returned home and turned the key to remove it, the fan came on, and would not go off. I played with the key cycling it on and off, and no matter what I did this event would occure over and over again. I even moved the tilt steering wheel, as some vehicles shorts have occured in the wiring harness around the steering wheel. Of cource the battery is dead again, any suggestions on what else to do?

My favorite reply, when the electric system does strange things, check the grounds.

Electrical's a bitch. They will just quote you so much an hour untill they find the problem.

I would look first around anything you (or anyone else) may have worked on recently.

Why don't they have a delete on edit?

Checking grounds is ALOT of work, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack with a pitchfork.

Here's a fork...

Start with the fusebox. Start by either removing 1 fuse at a time, or remove them all and add one fuse at a time. Start with your necessary systems, under the hood with your MAXI's... if you can narrow it down to one fuse, you will begin to see your culprit in a hurry.

Amen to that.

Do you have ANY electrical modifications or accessories? If you do, then name them and how they're hooked up.(very important)

You mean the fan for your inside cab vents, correct?

It sounds like the blower relay contacts may be sticking and letting current continue as Fuse #105 in the power distribution box is hot at all times. Pull fuse #105 (Green 40A) and see if the fan stops. I verified this on my 1999 5.4L F150.

Thanks so much, I don't think you could do more than that unless you came out here and pulled the fuse. Thanks for your help, I will get that done in the morning. If that works do I need to order a new relay?

I had a leak in windshield of 97 f150,common on 97-early 2000s it sounds like from post. Sometimes fan would go on over night and run battery down, other times 4x4 transfer case light on or speedo inop. Water leaks to GEM module, check for signs of leak,Search threads for others complaining of similar.Hope it helps

I would try to test the relay before you order it if you have the skills to do so. Im not even sure where that relay is. Im thinking it might attached to the blower but I don't know for sure.
