The Cruise Control wiring recall

What is the status on this stupid recall? I get a postcard every few months reminding me about it and saying that I will be contacted when replacement parts are available but that the parts are not yet available. My most recent post card was about a month and a half ago.

What is this recall and shouldn't parts be in by now? It all started in like November of last year IIRC.

Actually, it was like november of 04. I didn't think that it would take this long, geez! I think my dad's 94 even got one. Tell em to call around up here, because everyone here had theirs done like early 05. They asked me if I wanted it done like it was nothing when I had A/C work done, 10 min. job. I'd be pissed for sure. Good luck to ya, and when it does get installed, make sure it doesn't look crappy. Look I think in the v-6 section here for a thread about this with pics. The wiring was the issue.

Quit waiting for a postcard. Just call your dealer. Parts have been in stock for several months. Recall takes 10 minutes unless the switch has to be replaced, then it takes less than 20. Parts were not plentiful until Jan/Feb 06.

Blu, your timing is way off. The first phase recall (00 and 01, IIRC) was issued in Jan 05. The second, expanded recall was issued in Oct 05. The 94 has never been included in any related recall (yet).

There is a comprehensive forum just for recalls on this site. Go there and look back through the history.

Sorry, my dad replaced the switch for different reasons. It was setting off codes and that ended up bieng the root cause. Anyways, I swear I heard about it in late 04, and like I said, my 2000 was in bieng fixed late march of 05 and they issued that letter probably early january. Something like that. My point was just that it should be pretty much over, and why your still waiting is b/s. I can't believe it's this big of deal, because they basically forced the repair on me like it was nothing. I love the media's reaction to all this making Ford out to be killers. It's a part they don't even make as far as I know. Ford has jumped all over recalls for alot less. Again, it resembles ther Firestone fiasco. Car and Driver basically proved it was driver error or overreaction everytime. Another story for a later day.

I got my disconnect notice in NOV-05 for my '01

In FEB-06 I got the notice that the parts were in, and I could have it repalced now.

You should have gotten the part in notice by now.

If you are registered at my ford, it would list the notice as well.

Many many dealers won't send you a notice about the parts because Ford won't pay for the mailing.
I had to finally stop and ask. "Oh we didn't send any notice out".
The dealers around here are almost starving for sales to boot.
My original salesman has already moved to another dealer down the road.

Just got my '97 F-150 done a couple weeks ago. I called my dealership and they said to just bring it in. I waited about 15 minutes during lunch hour, not bad.
