Question this is gonna sound stupid

I know this is gonna sound stupid,, but i currently had a dash light go out on me. So i proceeded to remove the dash so i could disconnect the odometer and change the buld. Unfortunatly i can only get the gauge panel to come out far enough to get the tips of my fingers behind it.. I tried tugging on the odometer cable to see if i could get enough slack to no avail... any ideas or suggestions??????

You might want to mention what kind of vehicle you are working on, usually, you release the clip from the speedometer before you remove the cluster.

you can also unplug the PRND12 indicator.

If you get a Haynes manual it will tell you exactly how to remove the cluster.

the reason we need the truck info is because the changes between model years.
since you have a cable speedo its a 98 or older.

its easier to add your truck info in your User CP.

That's Ok, I didn't even notice. You could disconnect the cable at the transmission and loosen any retaining brackets then pull the whole cable to the point where you can unclip it. To be honest, it can be a real pain getting it lined back up into the speedo head, it's much easier at the tranny end.

The trans. selector cable is prob. keeping you from access to the back side. The cable is really short. once you get it uncliped you will have much more room to reach behind the panel and unclip the speedo cable.
