last my spark for Ford, It's all over but the hurtning...

Driving home yesterday, Alternator seazed right up, truck quit...POS...this is now the third replacment for the alternator, ( INCLUDING ORGINAL )and 2nd battery. I hope this truck will just blow up or catch on fire...
I have never had electrical issues like this occur on a 35,000 KM truck...I may resort to putting lemons in the grill like I did on my 02 F-150 that had suspension issues..
And Ford sent me those customer survey Forms for my last trip to the dealer and for the last three road side assistance calls, save the cost of the stamps and build a better truck, last 2 out of three F-150's suck..

I don't see how the alternator seizing up will make the truck quit, since it'll run for a bit on battery power, but whatever.

fan belt would not drive the Alt because the a bearing seazed up, Not a pleasent sound..yes the truck will run on battery power, but I did not want to fry the serpintine belt..one the belt is toast, no cooling, no power stearing, the charge in the battery would't be enough to get me home...when the bearing goes in the ALT. your toast......

So in other words, the truck ran just fine, it didn't quit, you like a sensible person shut it down once it throwed the belt or burned it up or whatever because the alternator seized. Okay, just making sure.

That's the way I read it.......so the truck is not a POS....only the alternator, which is probably not made by Ford.

Am I right about that?

I dunno, I was just confused about the part where the truck croaked as soon as the alternator seized up.

Want some cheese with that whine?

I understand some people have problems with their trucks, but if you're so pissed off with it, why don't you spend less time bitching about it and more time figuring out how to fix it or get rid of it.

Cyclone, have you checked the tensioner? sometimes the belt tensioner too tight can cause abnormal wear to anything it drives. since the alternator pulley is the smallest hence spinning more than the others, causing it to sieze first. even though the tensioner is self adjusting it may be defective.
just a thought

I'm going with Sport FX4 on this one.

If you're alternator keeps breaking, perhaps it's time to consider that there is something causing it to fail?

What mods have to done to the truck that involve the electrical system?

Truck is 100% stock...Ford dealer fixed it again...on ocassion felt belt squeals, and my ford dealer brushs it off, that's ok Ford is paying not me,

Fan belt has not been replaced and is still good, at this stage in my ownership I don't care or want to fix ford's and my dealers screw ups, takes to much efort and time management to get into the dealer, as I work ten hour days 5day's a week, Ford dealer is not open on saterday's

I expect thease minor items to occur in paid for, 200,000 mile truck, not one with less than 27,000 miles and three years old....I do stop and start the truck a lot during the day, but I also cruse on the freeway for 20 to 25 min at 60 mph.. and on the weekends I'm off camping ( even in the snow, or towing quads, snowmobiles and a horse trailer with horse's )

I have a towing package on my truck, but I don't know what amp my altenator is rated at, or if a heavy duty one is available.

We all end up paying in the long run. I'd complain to Ford customer care to get the darn dealer to fix this thing properly.

Ford customer care is useless....I'm not going into a Ford rant, my truck has been running awsome since Altenator and 2nd battery have been replaced...For now all is well with Ford Credit's truck...In theory I don't own it, but the payments and BS are a part of life... and I still want my Grilled Ham and Chease Sandwich !!!!! Quintin...
