Cruise Control Recall
Any idea when these parts are supposed to get in....i'm getting seriously irritated by ford (and I am a lifelong ford guy) and have had my cruise disconnected since early october.
First they said November, then January...haven't heard a thing......

Call your dealer.
I had mine done yesterday. Took all of ten minutes, most of which was spent doing paperwork. The actual work took about two minutes. If your switch is found to be leaking, the time to repair will be longer.
They had plenty of kits on hand.

so what happends when trucks catch on fire due to Fords Fault?
It starts off prety normal, the insurance company takes over... the fun part was the call the dealership got after the check had been cut, when the dealership asked if it was OK to call the junk yard to haul it off... they didn't really appreciate it sitting out bak for all the customers to see for two months... they were told NO, the insurance company was sending one of their trucks to pick it up. Kinda made the dealership a litle worried, didn't hepl it had been it an accident a year before and they had been hunting little electrical problems for a year since. They weren't sure if it was the cruse or their repair job that caused the problem... not my problem now

(but now that I said that, maybe you should leave it un-plugged) lol we got a 2002 f150 xlt thats recalled for the same thing. were just going to let it go and not worry about it. We use the cruise almost every day and not a problem with it. Plus if anything goes bad it's always parked outside anyway.
Nearly 4 million Ford Pickup trucks and SUVs have been recalled because of fires linked to the cruise control switch system, causing them to burst into flames. But that recall is for trucks made before 2003, when Ford changed the suspected switch.
But Investigators say for some reason this four-month-old truck burst into flames, hours after it was last driven. "That's just where he said it started at, and there wasn't anything else there to have burnt but that," Culbreth said.
