How do you kill the dinger in key aux position

Hi guys

I have managed to kill the "key in ignition" dinger by clipping the Black /red wire found under the lower steering wheel covering YaHoo

Now the problem is with key on the aux position to listen to tunes on the radio the dinger still sounds off with the door open.

I have read a lot of the past threads about the Dingers but did not find any re this particular problem area that did not involve the door switch and therby also disabeling the interior lights

There must be a wire from the ignition switch aux position feeding power to the dammed dinger so the question can anybody tell me where to find it and do you happen to know the colors (too much to hope for I know) But I gotta ask.

If not how do I disable the Dinger entirerly or is it tied in to the whole system and not able to be removed.

Thanks Ralph

I hope someone knowlegible chimes in. I wish Ford could do the same thing the same way on different vehicles. My wifes Sable doesn't ding with the key in aux & the door open. Sure makes it nice when working on the car. Ranger & Lariat both ding with key in aux & door open.

You can either manually actuate the door latch (I use a screwdriver, key, ink pen, etc) to "close" the door switch (make darned certain you re-open it before attempting to actually close the door) or you can perform a more usable modification as did this user: Door Open chime disconnect switch

Ralph - your comment made me curious so I checked it out yesterday. With my mod (using the switch), it does kill the interior lights as far as them automatically coming on when the door opens, however, you can still turn them on with the switch on the dash if you need them.

Basically I leave the switch in the door off (working like factory) until I am working on the truck and want to listen to the radio - I then flip the switch and the dinger goes away. Very rarely am I doing this at night, so the lights have not been a factor for me.

Anyway - good luck!!
