This problem just started happening to me. The truck cannot sense that my doors open so the radio will never turn off. Pulling out fuse #15 and replacing it will turn the radio off but that is a PIA. Has anyone found a solution to this yet?

          Thanks,

Question Help Help Help !!! Finally!?!?!

This is what has been a problem for us. We bought our '04 SC F-150 in Alliance OH, back in '05. It was not until we moved back to WI that we sarted to have problems with the [door ajar light] and the [dome light]. At first it was intermediate and would right itself after a couple of days. Now it has been almost 2 yrs since we have been back in WI and the [door ajar light] is still on and the [dome light] is slow to go off even after we are driving.

Bought a book - told us NOTHING!

So when I found your site I flipped and showed my husband, we will be trying your advise today. As soon as we have our

Thank you and I will let you know how it worked.

          CG

Couple more things: Our passenger fog light has been replaced twice (under warranty) and within a week or less it blows out AGIAIN!

I know this is like a book but I HAVE ?????'s LOL

Can you tell me why after my step son and husband changed my break pads and bled the brakes...why my gear shift councel will not shift into gear? We have to use the override button by pulling the cover off.

          Thumbs up It Worked!

After complete frustration regarding dome/cargo lights not going off and the door ajar light coming on I found this forum.

Gotta tell ya, WD-40 worked! It was that simple.

We were pulling the fuse, which then the windows didn't roll. About to just pull the bulbs when I ran across this advice.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

If the light is on and the doors are shut then spray some WD40 in to the latch. The door switch is probably stuck.
Spray in both doors then open and close them a few times. sometimes you will need to spray a lot of WD40 and it will run out the bottom of the doors. Just leave them open until it drains out.
That's crazy the first time this happened it cost me $150.00 to repair. I did what you said and bam fixed. Thanks for you willingness to help others, I have a 97 f-150 and a 02 f-350 super duty their like my kids I love em.

What if I have the exact opposite problem? My door ajar light never comes on. My interior dome lights never come on. and my headlight warning chimes never come on. It's as if my car doesn't even know that my driver-side door exist. Would that still mean that the latch is stuck? I think it started doing this after I had other electrical work done on the car, but can't remember if that's really the case.

Lightbulb I May have your answer!

"I tried this on my '04 supercrew but the dome lights are still on,also with the key off and the radio on, you open the rear doors the radio still stays on,it goes off when you open the front doors but the lights stay on. I had to take out all the bulbs. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance."

I had the EXACT same problem with my '03 S'crew and I tried EVERYTHING! The day that I decided to live with the problem, I was putting my daughter into the truck and my wife forgot something in the house so I decided to take "ONE MORE LOOK". The sunlight was coming down perfectly where I needed it and low and behold I saw it...the problem...the latch has a very thin plasticy/rubber film on it (either to protect the latch when slammed or rust or noise or to guide the rod better...). ANYWAY, this film was bunched up enough that the rod wasn't EXACTLY latched! I mean the door closed perfectly, but remember, these newer vehicle lights are relying on sensors for everything. I got a small pair of needle nose pliers and carefully removed some of the film and shut the door and BAMM, my pain was over! My sorrow was lifted! My happy dance began and I was ready for beer!

          Hope this helps!

Same problem on my 99. WD40 trick worked one time. Since then have replaced both switches and still get door ajar "chime" and interior lights coming on and turning off so I took BOTH switches out and you guessed it, same #$%*&@! problem and there's NO switches in the doors! Oh yeah, pulled the interior light relay to stop the lights from coming on at night while trying to drive. Have heard this could be related to the VSM? This is driving me NUTZ!!! Any help would be appreciated...so thanks in advance.
