Check for a parasitic power drain in excess of a 100 mA. Glovebox lights are good for this. Also, make certain that all components of your audio system (if an add-on) are being switch off when the iignition switch is turned off.

If no power drain is found, assume your battery is failing.

Do you have an aftermarket amp installed? The "thump" indicates to me that the amp is wired such that it stays on all the time, instead of turning on and off with the head unit...Does the "thump" go away if you cycle the ignition with the radio turned off?
