Question odometer

1st post ( here goes ) I've got a99 F-150 supercab, 4.6 4by auto. my question is when started the odometer stays off sometimes or flashes ( kinda cool going down the road @ night and having a light show from it ). sometimes when you hit a bump or dip it goes out, then comes back on. anybody out there have any word of wisdom on this problem ? thanks in advance Ron Rutter:

Ron, back-up to 10-11-2004 in this section (Electrical Systems)

To a thread named "Intermittent Odometer- A Repair"
It has pictures and everything, the guy did a fantastic job of showing the repairing of his odometer. Broken solder joint was all it was.

Good luck!

Gene

PS. I see your new to the site! When you open the Electric section of this board at the bottom right you can set the number of days that will be displayed.
Or you can use the search feature at the top right of each page.

Ron-
If you have any experience with a soldering iron, this is an easy fix. The cluster comes out fairly easily, and once you get it apart, the problem is pretty obvious (cold solder joint). I just performed this fix myself. The hardest part is disconnecting the ribbon cable from its locking tabs. The write-up mentioned above is right on the money.
