I Have a Problem

I was trying to adjust my power mirrors tonight, and the weirdest thing happened...
They go up, left and right, but they will not go down.
It's the same for both mirrors.

Whatcha guys think, the switch?
I'm still covered under bumper to bumper, so I will take it in.
Just weired this happend out of the blue.

considering neither mirror moves down, Im also inclined to say it is the switch.

Had that same problem with my 99. It was the switch.

Perhaps this will work...

Odd fix...but it might work.

First...does the motor seem to work when trying the down position? If it does...then try the fix below. If not...then don't bother trying this.

The mirror might just be at the bottom of it's travel. Try pushing the bottom of the mirror down. It will click several times depending on how far you push it (push it down further than you need it to be to see correctly). Now that it's down...try adjusting it with the mirror switch both up and down.

I doubt that this is the proper way to fix this...but I've done it when I have noticed kids messing with the mirror and I can't get it to adjust properly.

If this is harmful to the inner workings...then I'm sure someone will let me know...and I'll gladly accept any corrections or admonishments I deserve.

Hope you get to the bottom of this...

I like to take my 03 SCrew to a commercial car wash about once a month. I have found that the guys that wipe it down and dry it have the habit of moving the mirrors when they clean them. Occasionally they wind up being at the end of their travel in one direction or another. I have manually readjusted them on several occasions without problems. That's not to say that I may not have problems in the future, but so far so good. One would hope that Ford engineers have thought of this. The've done a lot of good engineering in other areas.

HAHAHA!!!

Anyways...

My hunch on your power mirror is that it's broken. You might consider replacing it. Good luck!

Don't take advice from a man who generated a 7 page thread in this forum.
