Angry blinker problem on '97

My turn signals are killing me. When I flip the switch to turn on the left (drivers side blinker) it works sometimes and not others. If I wiggle the switch, sometimes it starts working. when it doesn't work, the you can still here the blinker noise, but it faster than usual. The right blinkers always work. I think it may be a short in the steering column. Anyone else have the problem.

Sounds like the Multi-Function Switch.

That entire stalk of switches are poorly designed and others have had problems with, not only the signals but with the wipers.

Ah yes...that's going on with me right now as well.

It started two winters ago and is getting worse.

That problem on top of other problems I'm having is making me realize my 1997 F150 is getting long in the tooth.

I have the same problem too but it is the right blinker. It works, but shows no indication in the truck except for a fast blink sound.
J-150..Talk to me about the Multi function switch. Where is it located and approx. how much does it cost?

You guys were right on the money again...I removed the multi function switch and opened it up. It was completely green!
Cleaned it up and put it back together. This is a tricky task but with some patients, it can be done.
Everything is working perfect again. My hazzards were intermittant too, and it fixed that also.
You guys rock!
