Angry 2 out of 3 brake lights won't come on

I am seriously scratching my head on this one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 1999 F-150 ext cab 4x4. A buddy of mine noticed that the 2 rear brake lights were not working the other night. He said that the cab light was working. I can't seem to figure out what the #$!# is the problem. It doesn't really make sense because the backup lights and the parking lights work so that rules out some of the following but I checked them anyway

1. Fuses. all were good.

2. Brake light switch. Good.

3. Light bulbs. good.

4. continuity through the light socket. good.

Thanks for any help.

when you press on the brake with the engine off youll hear this little clik, thats like this sensor thing, ive seen those go out before, but im not sure why it would only make certain lights go out, but its probably worth checkin, maybe a certain line to it got messed up.

The brakelight circuit for the rear lamps is routed through the Multi-Function (indicator) switch but the cab light is on a "standalone" circuit and takes its feed from the brakelight switch before it reaches the multi switch.
If the cab light works but the rears don't, the problem is almost certainly in the Multi-Function switch.
You could try taking it of and cleaning the contacts inside. They can suffer from a build up of "green goo" inside which stops things from working.
Hope this helps.
