je3169,

From a 2001 F-150 :

While I have never seen the plug that you are talikng about, the autolamp photocell is in the little grille area in the top of the dash by the windshield.
It is ~ 1" square in the oval part of the dash. Almost in direct line with the center defrost vent.

Good luck findout what that little plug is in the headlight switch, never seen that one before

plug

Not sure about that plug, I know that adjustable pedals are around that area. Also the switch for power sliding rear window is located next to the adjustable pedals if equipped. Is the plug you're talking about attached to the dash or just behind it somewhere.

je3169,

Do you have power pedals in the truck ?

If you don't this is probablly the connector for teh power pedal motor.

If you pull the oval off from around the radio, and the vents next to the radio, behind the dasjh, just below the drivers side vent there is a pin connector pushed onto the back of the dash also, I think this is the 4x4 selector.

If I am understanding this correctly this is the same thing ??

It kind of looks similar to the shape of a USB cable end ???

The power pedal switch is located just below the headlight switch, do you know what color wires and how many are on this connector?

Lightbulb

Ok, just pulled the headlight switch out of my 02, sorry for not going out and doing this right away but it is -30 outside and it took awhile to get up the nerve to go out and look. I didn't see any other connector there on mine but it has power pedals. From what I could see the power pedal connector has 5 wires, red, black, white, and 2 green. This has 5 wires but probably only 4 terminals as I think the 2 greens go into one terminal. If this is the connector you have than it is probably for the pedals. My truck also has autolamps and there is still only 2 connectors on it. I hope this helps.

Just looked at the wiring diagram for 02 and 03, and for the switch it says the connector should have 7 or 8 wires, the colors were a bit different than I said but it was dark out. Let me know what you have and I will have another look tommorow in the light.
