window & 4x4 indicator acting wierd

Okay. new problem. The other day I went to the car wash (touchless automatic) & now, occasionally, I'll be driving down the road and my 4x4 and low range light will come on. They go out after about a second, but then my driver side window won't roll up, it'll roll down no problem. The window will continue this until I turn the truck off & restart it. Sometimes it'll do this everytime I drive it & other times it's only once a day.

Any ideas?

sounds crazy but it might be a switch on the transfer case.

Mine did something similar once, only everything electrical quit. T-case, windows, mirrors, radio, if it had wires it quit working. I was lucky that the t-case stuck in 4lo because I was in some nasty mud. I took it to the dealer and they said that the ignition switch jamed and replaced the switch, and greased the cables that run from the lock cylinder to the switch. 18k later no more problems. A locksmith friend says that he sees this sometimes. Greasing the cables and making sure that they will not bind usually fix the problem.

'97 F-150. Electronic shift 4x4. No, the windshield isn't leaking. The only leak is the typical read sliding window. This started as soon as I left the car wash & seems to be getting better as time goes on. I don't think it is actually trying to shift the transfer case.

I know this is an old thread, but did anyone ever really resolve this problem? I have the exact thing happening, only mine will not shift into 4wd at all now. I do have a leak on the front windshield that I am sure is the culprit, but I don't know what has been damaged.

Thanks!
Joe

Do a search on the forums...apparently this is a common problem. A leaking front windshield can cause water to get into the fuse box and GEM module causing severe corrosion. The GEM module basically controls everything that is electrical on your truck and is located just above the fuse box.
