Question Remove headlight switch/locate parking light wire

Can anyone help me locate the parking light wire (BRN) or tell me how to remove the headlight switch so I can trace the wire.
I found the moveable tab on the bottom of the headlight switch and it releases the bottom of the switch but I can not get it all the way out. Thanks

I have a feeling that this website: http://www.svtlightnings.com/svt/how...s/foglamps.htm will answer all of your questions...

That link is to the 'how to' on the foglight/parking light mod but, it shows wiring schematics and talks about removing the switch.

G' luck.

Thanks RockPick. I have enough of the dash apart to see that there is not a metal clip holding it in on the bottom at least. I have a '99 Supercab, which I failed to mention before, and the switch looks different than the DK-labeled switch on the website you referenced . Mine is labeled BB and it is not a lot different but does not have the metal clip on the bottom.

I am close to being ready to do the fog lamp mod, though. The plastic 'rivets' are breaking off from the little pressure I am applying to get the switch out.

I've heard of numerous people having trouble with removing the switch and have even heard of folks actually breaking the faceplate in attempts to remove the switch. It's not an uncommon problem. Just be careful and, if you do break it,, go to your local junkyard and find another switch rather than buying a new one.

G'luck!

You should probably be able to find the parking light wire either in the drivers' kick panel or the bundle under the steering column. Go to www.the12volt.com and look in the wiring diagrams section for alarms/remote starters.

if you have the trailer harness under dash plug, there will be a brown wire in there for the parking lamp. You can't miss it because once the lower panel is removed, it will be to the left of the OBD plug with nothing attached to it.
