chip really worth getting?

Mike......I want mine reprogrammed with the chirp at 40 option in it.
Rocks
I did the same thing you are doing, I read post for weeks, Ask
every question I could think of. In the end. I was really mad that I waited so darn long to get it. Mike was and still is a big help.
I have had the chip for almost a year, Plus the AF-1 ..
This has to be the two best mods I have done to my truck.
I pull a 27 foot travel trailer, The chip makes it a joy.
Don't wait to long, you will kick yourself like I did.
Hi Mike, and thanks again.

Hi Rocks,
Ahh, well why didn't you say you wanted the "chirps @ 40 option" in the first place?!?
All kidding aside, there are a few trucks that actually will chirp the tires on the WOT 1-2 upshift with our Performance Products Superchips programming, it's usually the lighter trucks, and/or those trucks that just happen to have a tranny that will flow enough fluid volume quickly enough to make that happen. Like certain valve body orifices may be a coupla ten-thousandths larger just as a production variance, for example, etc. Not many of them will do that, but a few do.
That's really not something we ever set out to do deliberately with the "standard" performance programs for these F-150's, it's just turned out that a few trucks just happened to be able to do that with the exact same changes to the program that other trucks get that won't chirp the tires.
I can see it now, we'll actually start getting calls from people who will say "I want the chirps @ 40 option," you wait, it'll happen, someone will see these posts and take it seriously!
Actually, we *can* make them shift harder, and in most trucks make them shift hard enough to chirp the tires, but we don't like doing that by line pressure in the powertrain program alone. If a particular vehicle just happens to be able to do that with our normal performance program, with the changes that we normally make, that's fine and not a cause for concern. But we really don't like to keep cranking up the line pressure higher and higher in a custom program specifically to make that happen via programming changes *alone*, just out of consideration for long-term wear to the front pump by trying to force it to create enough line pressure to supply enough fluid volume to do that thru the standard-sized orifices in the valve body, springs, etc.
What we tell people who definitely want their truck to chirp the tires consistently on the WOT 1-2 is to do that with a combination of the Superchip to take care of the program issues and a Transgo shift kit to properly take care of the mechanical issues working together as a system; that is the safest way to make the tranny shift hard & quick enough to always chirp the tires in these big heavy trucks.
I know you already know all that Rocks, I'm just pointing this out for the many who will come along and read these posts later who may not know...........................

"Chirps @40 option!!"
I should clarify my earlier post. My truck is a 1999 supercab 5.4 with the tow package. My first mod was the Superchip, I did not buy it from Mike, but Mike did give me some good advice in this forum. I bought it used from F150 online's classifieds. All I know is that the code matched mine, I have no idea if it was a custom program, but I don't think it was. When I first put the chip in and I was cruising @25-30 and stomped on the gas the truck would downshift and "chirp the tires to @ 40 and then it would chirp louder at the 1-2 shift. My next mod was a Airforce 1 intake, now the truck "squeals the tires to @40 then chirps loudly at the 1-2 shift. Needless to say I am loving these two mods!!!! My next mod will be the magnaflow cat-back when I can afford it.

You want a laugh?
Now we have people actually calling here saying they want the "chirps at 40 option!!" Of course, we actually *can* make anyone's F-150 "chirp at 40," but it will take more than a Superchip in most cases.
Thanks for your post, Karson 5.4!

I got the Superchip installed today! AMAZING!! It's worth every penny I paid. After reading sooooooo many posts about the Superchip, I had one installed and it performs "exactly" as stated! Who says you can't improve a good thing. Thanks to all who posted their experiences and advise.
Karson, that was **A JOKE**.
There is no such thing as a "chirps @ 40 option," that was a joke starting by "Rocks" in another section, weeks ago. If you'll read my last post, you know, the one that stats off with "You want a laugh".....................
And no, of course the Superchip isn't going to hurt your transmission, if it did, we would not have anything to do with them.
Enjoy it & have fun!

Hey Rocks,
You know this is all your fault!
Actually, I think it's a riot.
Did I tell you that we actually had someone call here who took your other joke (the one about attaching our electric fans to the tailgate for the Jet effect) seriously, and wanted to know how to do that?
It happened. And I couldn't help from laughing over the phone, and of course as soon as I recoverd from the guffaws long enough to explain, he then insisted he understood it was a joke all along, the clown. Yep, sure he did, that's why he called asking how to do it.
Good thing for some that there's no entrance exam required to gain entry to this web site, eh?
If I were in your shoes, I'd be laughing so hard by now I'd need surgery. I almost do now.
Thanks for the grins,

Also, it was this thread that I said my tires chirp@40. Sorry if you got too many calls from people that thought it was real. I like that someone called about the tailgate fan, so I understand why you thought I was serious.
Just so you know I'm not a a total goof ( just goofy) I've been roadracing motorcycles for @ 14 years and I can rebuild any part of the bike, even the motor. The team I race on won the WERA Middleweight superstock endurance championship in 1999. I've worked at 4&6 Racing, one of the best privateer race shops in the country. I thought it was great that you were getting calls about the "chirps @ 40" option, maybe you should sell a package deal;
1) "chirps at 40" superchip
2) Tailgate fan
3) Tornado air swirler
4) Knudsen valve
5) Flux capacitor
Just Kidding!!!
Have fun!!!!

Hey Mike, Hope you had a good day. Looks like the warranty superchips thread is going from "darn, I should have read those instructions"... to hostile attacks about the "uglyness" of ones truck...full circle to the electric fan kit. I even recieved a compliment on my gatorback belt.
It got me to thinking, if you ever actually convince everyone to take the instructions seriously...there won't be any more posts
By the way...I learned from Ford that if you install the fan kit on your tailgate...it voids the warranty on your transmission. Something about the extra boost putting too much stress on the torque converter.
Rocks
