I for one don't understand why he bought all this stuff to begin with, if he truly believes Ford knows(or does it?) best?? For what it's worth I'm going to take off my fipk for a while. I'm buying a bumper cover that has scoops in it. Gonna try a rudimentary fresh air experiment to see if it's really better than the fipk. The chip worked really well in my truck, not much more to say about it.,,,,,98

Didn't do that much???

I was at the rally down in Norfolk. We were at the strip (VMP) and I was running times that I thought were pretty slow. I had the chip on the mild program. Mike suggested that I claer the ECU and run the more aggressive side. Well about ten minuets later I took four tenths off my time. The next run another three tenths. Now keep in mind that adaptive strategy didn't have all that much to adapt at that point. I knowticed a difference!
Well the truck sat for a day while we used the local transportation to get to the beach. The next time it ran was on the trip back home. At least ten hours of highway. Probably an average of 75mph. Some slower and a few full throttle bursts (to get out of the way of people who were farmiliar with the roads). We got home from the long drive and I had to get out of the truck, I didn't want to drive any more!
The next day we had some arrends to run. Get in the truck and drive and the thing felt like it could run 13's in the quarter. It felt real powerful! I think with adaptive strategy, the chip and many miles at speed had the ECU set up for GO!
It still feels good but I know as I get some around town driving it will mellow out some.
Bottom line is, it does something! I think we get a lot for the price.
That's just me though!

SuperChip....

I currently do not own a SuperChip, and I am partially skepticle in getting one just for the reasons that many have posted here. I know that every product will have its unhappy customers and that there is a lot of different reasons and situations that come into play. I am an internet technician and I see this everyday where I work. However, when I first installed my air intake I could "feel" the difference around higher RPMS. I had to look for it though. It didnt come out and bite me. I then installed a catback system on my truck... This was probobly the mod that I have noticed the most Gain/Loss. During lower RPM's and speeds my truck defiantly seems a lot slower and I wish I had kept my stock exhaust, but at the same time my top end has improved a lot! It gets up and goes around after 40mph compared to the stock exhaust.

Many factors came into play when I started doing some mods...

1. I knew an intake would help. Thats why I bought the AF-1.
2. I wanted to cool rumble sound of duals but I didnt want to lose a lot of HP. After getting my catback dual exhaust with a glasspack I really dont want to change to a muffler because the sound is soo sweet! I have the 5.4L and it really sounds sweet! However, everyday I debate weather or not to get a magnaflow exhaust, because I know it would give me better performance gains but the sound wouldnt be as loud. So it really depends on what you want. I am ok with losing some HP and gaining some sound personally.
3. I had a Hypertech programmer recently and took it back because on my 5.4L it didnt do much. I could feel the firmer shifts from 1-2 and 2-3 but that was it. I dont doubt that it does not work. However I wasnt happy with it for how much I paid for it. I returned it back the 2nd day I owned it. IMO I know that these mods all work because my buddy has a Lightning and he has done the same mods, but since his truck is lighter you can defiantly tell a huge difference in the performance! I myself have a 4x4 that weighs 5,600lbs so it would be really hard for me to tell the difference compared to if I had a 3,800lbs truck. So like Mike says and a lot of other people here have said. There are factors that will determine how much you feel the "gains". If you own a 2wheel drive you will feel the difference a lot better than owning a 4x4 just because it is lighter.

Over all... I make really good money, I always want to go faster, so anyone that I know makes a product that will increase performance gains will get my business.

Most people who purchase these aftermarket products do so because they have a reason. Not because they are daily drivers.

Anyhow, im rambling....

4X4PWR,

I too, had a HyperCrap...that thing sucked...the reason was that it only comes into play at full monkey.

I then took it back, thanks to using my credit card.LOL
I ordered a Superchip from Mike T at performance products. I was actually stunned by the improvement. A day or so after I put it in I took a friend out to lunch. Just for kicks I did not say anything about my Chip. After I tromped it a few times, his response was "what the hell did you do to your truck"? He had noticed the speed and response improvement over the many times he had ridden and driven the truck before.

Don't let the HyperCrap or Jet pieces of crap scare you off. Those 2 products are entirely different than a Superchip.
