Neal,

Do you have a 25 or 30 gallon tank? What does 732KMS equal to in miles?

I am getting anywhere from 350 to 470 miles from a 25 gallon tank. When I got the truck four months ago, it had around 40,000 miles. Now I have a little over 50,000 miles on it. I have only changed the oil/oilfilter on a regular bases as well as put a K&N airfilter. Is there something eles I should change to increase gas mileage (besides lead foot)? I have a 99' xlt, supercab, 4.6, auto, 3.55, 265/75/16s.

So NPP mods. will also provide us with more power and the "potiential" for better gas mileage?

Cool

HI!... IRON HORSE : I have the smaller 94 liter tank (20.8 IMP. GAL.) 732 kms equals roughly to about 458 miles. Now I've never cared about MPG, so here it goes for figuring it out. 458 miles divided by 25 gallons (U.S) = 18.32MPG, right? If that's right, that's not too bad for a truck with around 340H.P and 4.10 gears!LOL!Also when I did that trip involving the 732KMS. I also did about 5 full throttle 130mph + runs. I have to admit though, that I was on fumes when I filled up after I got off the highway. I did'nt think I was going to make it to the gas station. I was driving with the FUEL light on for like 30 minutes.

As for the "NPP" products, their not going towards MPG, their going after H.P/TORQUE.

Geez,

You can get 732 Kilometers out of a tank?
That's unreal, my best is about 470.

This sucks.

ok no need to **** off the superchips_distributor.........I have grown to love the chip now that its been around a month. The only thing that has not increased is gas milage. I have yet attempted to calculate mpg, but i know its going to to be poor. I like to go fast............................. gets you there quicker!

Neal,

Thanks for the info. I am just kidding and trying to aggrevate you and mike about NPP. So, I have been including it just to get more info about them.....ha! I will quit mentioning them, until you/Mike are ready to release them. Unless, you want to talk about the different products you plan on releasing?

I did not know there were three sizes of tanks? I thought there was only a 25 or 30 gallon tank? Is your tank stock or aftermarket?

I usually fill my tank with 32 - 34 U.S. gallons. I get @400mi per tank. Ouch. But then again, I also haul a half ton or so of equipment each day plus the cap. Somedays, a lot more. And I drive in a mountainous area with long, steep grades. Not to mention the lead foot!
But I get there fast.

Iron Horse, that feeling you are getting from the truck at high speed's is it's wish to fly instead of rolling along on the ground. What I suggest, is you fit your truck with wings and tell the next ricer that you race that if you don't beat him then you will smash his car from above !!!! LOL !!!! The lowering kit should help with that feeling.

As for dissing Mike Troyer, that is just not right !!! He has never said anywhere on this board that I have read (I have read a lot before buying my chip), that the mileage would go up. The superchip is here for one reason, HP & TQ. You want miles / gallon then go and spend $1000 on different gears. You would be amazed at the difference in mileage when you change your rear gears from 3.55 or 3.73's to a low 2 range. You could actually get 30 mpg with your truck. Now that would be something to brag about. Oh, just don't tow or haul anything and you will be alright.

This would have to be verified by Mike T. since he knows more about the programs in Ford's vehicles than I. But with all of the different codes for our trucks, there could be codes that actually benefit more from the mods than others ????

There could be numerous reasons why the chip didn't satisfy your quest for HP & TQ. Engine, tranny, rear gears, ECM program, not leaving it long enough, etc, etc, etc .... I could go on for days. If you are not willing to find your problem then it is best that you are getting rid of all of your mods.

Personnally, with my truck I was able to drop 3 tenths off of it at the track. Yeah, there is other things that could be done to make my 20 ft., 5000 lbs monster go faster but then I would have to make sure that the motor with 200,000 kms could handle that kind of HP & TQ without blowing something up OR replacing things to make it handle the new HP & TQ. Now, I just have to decide whether it is beneficial to pull the chip and get the header program for my truck since I now have the Bassani's on.

Have Fun & Keep on Truckin'
Dean

To Izzyeddy:

I do not think I was "dissing" Mike T.....

I mentioned that he had not replied to these posts, knowing that he reads them all....He must, because he has posts everywhere....I was hoping for a rational response to the topic, and instead I feel that I was "dissed"......

Once again, I NEVER said the chip or FIPK does not work, I know that it does....it is advertised as increasing power throughout the rpm range, and it might. My complaint is that I (and many others) do not live at the drag strip or in the world above 4000 rpm.....at least not all the time....

I certainly admit that when I went to WOT there was a marked increase in power, and the 1-2 was much firmer (I have said this before), but when was the increase in the normal driving range....I did not see much if anything.

I ran the chip for over 4000 miles, and kept waiting for it to "get going"...never did. The Airaid is another racer part, and the only noticable change was a DROP in off-idle torque.

When I removed the chip and the Airaid, my truck did begin to run better where I drive....under 3000-4000 rpms.
Off-idle torque is better, and I am much happier with the way the truck runs.

I did not slam superchip or airaid as frauds, but I do think their advertising does not offer the whole ball of wax....

Mike T noted that he definitely does not guarantee increased MPG.....

The banner advertisement that I used to order the chip with says increased power, torque and mpg....I am certain of it.....

Mike T has stated many times on this site that the better performance and modifications offered by the chip MAY and OFTEN DOES lead to increased mpg.....the IMPLICATION made was the direct cause of my purchase......to no avail, as my mpg actually went down...and so with many other purchasers on this site
Finally, I am dismayed about spendng almost $1000 for this stuff and did not received the benefit that was expected and implied.....

Come on, is a metal tube and a rubber hose, a filter and 4 hose clamps worth $250????? If it actually DID something, maybe.....still quite a high price...

Chips are cheap in todays technology, but I would not mind spending another $225++ if I got what I thought I was getting....either stated or implied...

I am not trying to tell folks not to buy it, but rather noting that it might not do what you expect.....

Go to the first post on this thread....I DID NOT start the post....it was another dissatisfied customer, and there are many of us.....

Exclamation Is this thing working??

davidzog

I would have to agree with you David I feel you have not dissed
Mike in anyway. You are just stating your opinion.I also have a Superchip in my truck and often ask my self is this thing working??? And at $250 a pop I would at least like to "KNOW" that it is... I work very hard for my money and $250 is a truck payment for me... Mike seems like a nice person but it does not change the fact that this chip is not all its "HYPED UP" to be.IMO The reason I bought this chip was for the claims of better gas and hp gains, and to this date I can honestly say have not noticed any of its advertised claims.

I can't believe I am about to do this but.......

1. The guy that original started this thread has in later posts admitted that he now feels the benefits of the superchip.

2. I was one of the biggest skeptics of the all performance chips, found a deal on a used superchip on this site and after it started kicking in around 400 to 500 miles, I love it. If I drove the truck "normally" I would have continued to see an increase in gas mileage, however, I enjoy the superchip so much, that I keep my foot in the accelerator far too much, therefore, gas mileage is going down. As well as the stock program on the superchip is designed for stock tires (255/70/16s), my used truck came with 265/75/16s which is a taller tire). Although, the chip has increased performance, like many, many others before me, I am getting too comfortable with the performance and I want more, more I tell you! ha! So, I just made final payment on a new Magnacharger kit-cheap! If you look long and hard enough, you can find a some great deals on a supercharger kit.

3. Mikes organization has no special affiliation with any manufacturer. Mike is not SuperChips. He is a vendor that sells superchips among many other items. His company is only interested in selling the best of various types of items. The best of the various types may not be that good, and I suspect that is why he and Neal Newman have teamed up to make some hybrid items of their own design that will provide what the consumer really wants in the form of "NPP".

Disclaimer: As of this date, I have never purchased anything from Mike T. Yet, he has provided me with very valuable technical information time after time. However, I do plan on buying from him when NPP comes out.

.....and to think, that several months ago, I started on this site looking for advice on some used tires that I still have not purchased.. ha!

Hey guys its been a while since I have posted in this forum If I remember correctly. I am truly suprised that persons did not notice an increase in performance with the superchip.

In my previous truck 00 lariat I bought a superchip and the gains was soo noticable that even my WIFE felt it.

When I took the chip out to send it to the dealer for servicing I could really feal that the truck was weaker. I would not replace the chip until the day after, my wife woul ask me when I was going to put the chip back in the truck.

I love the chip soo much that when I sold the truck I kept it and I am now having it reprogrammed to work in my 01L.

I think you guys should have spoken to Mike on a 1 to 1 basis and see if this problem could be sorted out. ( thats if you didn't)

Also keep in mind that most of our trucks weigh over 5,000 lbs so don't expect a tyre shreading beast. These trucks are not usually like Neals

Again sorry again guys for you bad experience concerning the chip.

Thumbs up Chip

Take the chip out after about a month and you'll notice. I took mine out for a service call and NIGHT & DAY difference. It's not NITROUS or a BLOWER.

If you want tire smokin'; spend $4000 on a SUPERCHARGER delete the entire truck warranty including cup holders and you'll get the front tires off the ground until you wrap the rear end like a "twisty tie".

I'd take off my exhaust, airforce 1, and Headers before I'd lose the SUPERCHIP.
