ok, great, this is the model I am considering for 2013 5.0. Friday my new Nittos go on and I will need to adjust speedo. To you folks that got this programmer from MPT, what can you tell me about ease of use, fuel economy, etc.? I would like to know before I buy. I am only going from the stock 32 inch tire to the 33.27 Nitto. I don't want a program that will kill the 18 to 18.4 combined I am presently enjoying, but yes I know I do expect some decrease. Truck has 3.55 gear, 4x4 scab, hi flow air filter (no CAI installed yet) and borla cat back on it right now. This week I am averaging 18.4 combined mpg (last 500 miles) but keeping it around 70mph or below running 91 octane gas.

Definitely recommend MPT. Their tune has been the best and customer service is great also. Granted i have a eb and am running the 91 performance tune and it is mean as hell.. I got on it today with the new 275/65/18 cooper's and it screamed the tires in 2nd gear and a 3rd gear chirp.. I still average around 17 to 18mpg running the hell out of it.

Even with a performance tune and a little bigger tires i bet you wont lose much if anything if you can drive it nicely.

Thanks KingRanchKoy, I was just looking at some other posts about the ecoboost tunes from MPT so emailed them just a few seconds ago looking for their suggestions given my setup. the tires you went with are very similar to the ones arriving friday. Going on with Nitto tetras in 275/70/r18

Main thing to consider with their tunes is how you pick the transmission settings with the custom tunes. If you like nice firm shifts then i recommend the Street, If you like softer shifting either consider the stock or chill.. My truck chirps second gear at about 1/4 throttle with the street setting.. No telling how hard it will shift with the Race.

I ordered the 93 performance/Race but havent got to use it yet, since my area doesnt have 93.

My area here in GA has 93, but you pay 40 to 50 cents per gallon more over regular to get it. I run 89 to 91 most of the time. I get a little better mpg on 91, but not enough to offset the extra 20 cents per gallon it costs. But the nine just seems more responsive and quieter. on the low grade stuff i hear a little pinging once in a while under load, but none of that at all using 91.

I'm amazed. I ordered from MPT today at just past 12 noon. Got an immediate order confirmation email. At 2pm I got an email informing me my ordered had shipped. It doesn't get any faster than that. x4 on the way.

I got mine in 3 days.. You should have your pretty darn quick since you live in GA. They ship from Florida.

What tunes/ transmission did you end up with?

One word of advice give the truck about a 100 miles to learn the shift strategy and you will really like it. When i first programmed mine it didnt want to downshift and was a little sloppy. After a few miles it was night and day difference.

If i understood it right, there will be a document with the tuner on how to order the custom tunes. I could be wrong, but i placed the order and saw no way at time of order to tell them what i was looking for. (which means I likely just screwed up) so no, it coming with the three canned tunes and i will have to order the custom ones via email i think. (i hope).

The transmission is the part that worries me though....I don't want something that is going to stress the transmission. More than anything I'm looking to adjust the speedo for the new nitto's going on tomorrow and maybe help offset some of the power loss and mileage loss. This truck will not be raced or taken to the strip, it will sling mud though, carry out dead deer, and a lot of firewood, pull a lawn trailer, and take me back and forth to the PD which 38 miles each way for me. I have no clue what to ask for yet. Like I mentioned before though, the truck seems to run better on 91 octane. todays price for 91 was 3.72 per gallon.

just saw the custom tune form. It says i need the device in hand to order because they need the device serial. I will order when it arrives. I noticed that "Chill" is still a little firmer than stock. I will probably go with that unless you know a reason otherwise.

Your right. Not sure what i was thinking about.. Once you get the tuner thats when you fill out the custom tune form..

Id recommend a tow tune and then maybe a 87 performance and 91 or 93 performance.

As far as the shifting the Chill would prob be a good route to go.. Maybe get a tune that you wont run much but will play around with and get the street trans tune.

Thats what i did with my 93 performance/ Race (transmission) tune.

I really doubt that the harder shifts will hurt the transmission.. Usually the nice easy shifts is what isnt very good for them, sorta like the transmission slips into gear.

Either way you will be happy.

Be sure to datalog the tunes and send em back to MPT to make sure the truck is happy.

using the "f150forum" coupon code, the x4 was 379.99 shipped to the door with the canned tunes plus 3 custom tunes....... Now that info on the CAI sounds like a deal. I will check it out. Thanks!
