What a tune

I have a 12 EcoBoost Scab 6.5. Going to put m/t's on. Also want to do a tune. It's a DD. want to max out power and also get max mpg. (I know two separate tunes) but is it worth getting cai and exhaust or just cai or just exhaust. I have heard exhaust on Ecoboost is not worth it. But is a cai?

You can not tune for gas mileage. Its a truck and its heavy. Rolling resistance lessens with oversized tires. Further more, mpg increases may be noticed with a more refined drive train programming, but don't expect high mpg gain.

Exhaust is worth it on a V8 for sound. I certainly wouldn't louden up a V6, but EcoBoost owners are loving the 4" cat-backs out there for high rpm performance.

Factory intakes draw in enough air for the throttle body. A inbox inlet increase and a good filter is all that is worth it these days.

Talk to Mike at 5star, he has put together some appetizing packages fer yer truck.

I think one of his exhaust packages was trying to quiet the eco down...although that may be offset with the AFE.

Livernois in MI is dialing in the eco and is getting tremendous dyno results. Lot's of chatter over on one of the "other" F150 boards, over 150 pages of posts to go through.

Probably the best bang fer yer money would be 3 custom maps from any of the reputable tuners like MPT, 5star, Livernois with SCT x3. Although if I had the ecoboost I'd want the SCT Livewire for the gauge pack.

Happy reading

I understand I can not program for just more mpg. That is my question. Will any of the packages truly benefit me. Or should I just do the programmer.

Check out his dyno graphs, just using 93 octane yields some serious gains over 87.
5star offers "fuel economy" tunes for the eco, it's explained on the website. He limits boost in that particular tune but will give you 100% when floored. Most important is the driver's foot.
Livernois 93v2 is impressive as well.

Geez, ANOTHER feller wanting to go fast and get good gas mileage with big, heavy tires?

Well for that, I'd recommend a CAI (search for WASHOOBI) WITHOUT a tune, a throttle body spacer, and one o' dem thar fayncy Tornady thing-a-mabobs what goes on the inside of yer intake tubie thangies.

Keeping stock tires on it will increase your mileage more than any tune or intake/exhaust mods.
