any 2009+ 4.6 owners with a programmer out there?

as the thread says. wondering if anyone with a 2009 and up with a 4.6l 4x4 with a 3:73 gear have purchased a tuner and if so which one and whats your experience been?

i have a 2010 stx 4.6l 2v and questioned some tuner makers like hypertech and diablosport on the availability for a tuner for my vehicle but never committed to one yet. my intent for getting one was for speedo adjustment for my 33.4" duratracs i currently have on for winter as well as when i get a lift with 35 or 36" tires. wake up the 4.6 a bit and maybe help with some mpg's. i dont have or intend on doing much for modifications. all i have is the gotts style mod of removing the snorkel from the stock intake box and as for now a slightly modified exhaust. in the future i plan on going with probably a si/do setup. and thats probably going to be the extent of it. the 3:73's do alright with moving the larger duratracs and the 33" toyo m/t's i run in the summer but if i can get a little more power out of the truck i think it only be beneficial towards the overall performance. any feedback be appreciated. thanks.

I have a few locals running around with the 4.6 3V 09-10 trucks that we developed our tunes on, they love them

hey mike i actually spoke with you a while back when i started to do some research on a tuner last summer. unlike the others i have a 4.6 2V on my 2010 stx if that rings a bell. i know alot of people have said they werent even sure if they were making 2v's on a 2010 model f150 anymore but apparently they were. someone recently told me the 4.6 2v's respond best with a tuner and custom tunes as well as running premium fuel to notice the gains the tuner will provide with the higher octane gas. and thats the part thats gettin me. paying 3+ dollars more per fill up for a 1mpg gain and maybe an extra 15 horse. i guess im just not educated enough about the function and mechanics of vehicles.

as i stated i primarily wanted to give the truck a little extra somethin for when i throw some 35's on it but regearing from 3:73's to 4:10's might be better to take some strain off the tranny, but ive been told a small jump like that in gear ratio isint worth the money really. and if i would go that route i dont know if i would still have to utilize a tuner with the aftermarket gears anyways. im unsure if the trucks computer has to be told they are now not the stock 3:73 gears

OK, I do recall that, do you recall if I was able to confirm that we did have support?

If so, the provided 93 octane tune will wake it up nicely for sure....

Going up one step in gear ratios is not worth it - you need to go up 2 or more, which would be 4.30's or 4.56's. With 35's on a 4.6 2V, I'd get 4.56's.

In fact, 4.30's are not available for your front axle.

that's kinda what i gathered as well glc. just 1 step up would not be sensible. and Ive still been trying to get an answer from someone if my gears were swapped to 4.56's would anything have to be done to the computer? would a tuner be needed to there after to tell the computer i now do not have the stock gears or is that not correlated to the computer? and what would one expect from that swap in the gears? faster off the line and better get up and go, obviously less tranny strain, increase/decrease in mpg? or would the gears offset the weight of the tires and would i remain pretty much the same in the mpg department?

You will need a programmer to correct the speedo/odo, it won't run optimally if the PCM is getting the wrong readings.

Gas mileage differences are hard to predict.
