Looking at SCT SF3 Programmer for 01 5.4

Hello, I was looking at getting one of the SCT SF3 programmers for my 01 5.4 supercrew. My question to you guys is, where is the best place to buy it from? I want custom tunes, so who writes the best custom tunes? I want to get the most possible power out of my truck on 87 octane. Any information you guys can give me would be great. Thanks!

Definitely go with VMP Tuning. Justin is the man when it comes to tuning late model Fords. I can't wait to have him tune my new truck!

The *BEST* SCT tuner is Troyer, but his lead time on custom tunes is unacceptable to a lot of people.

I have decided to go with VMP Tuning and I am leaning towards 89 tow, 89 performance, and 91 performance. The reason for 91 is because that is the highest octane we have up here in North Dakota. What are your guys' thoughts on my choices. I wont be ordering for a little while yet because I am in the process of moving right now.

No point in having both 89 and 91 programs, they are just too close together. Get 87 and 91.

But the thing is I run 89 Octane 95% of the time....so I figured I would just do the 89's and the one 91 tune

Is there a big difference between the 87 tunes and the 89 tunes?

Why don't you save some money and run 87? It will run better on any 87 tune than it would on 89 gas stock.

Only reason I am looking at the 89 octane tunes is because 89 is .10 cents cheaper than 87.

That's because your 89 is E10, and your 87 is pure gas. You will get better mileage on the 87.

Mileage isnt that big of a concern to me. I fill it when it is empty. Im mainly looking to get the most power without having to step up to 91octane all of the time. But thats why Im on here, to ask questions and get different view points on things to help me confidently make my descision. Thank you for the help!

So is there more power and/or benefits to 87 octane tunes or 89 octane tunes?
