Tried to reinstall my fathers Hypertech programmer back into my fathers truck after a service at the dealer and it will not install. A error message with the hex code came up along with a number to call, tech at hypertech told me that since ford updated the pcm that this particular programmer will no longer work in this truck. Also my father bought this truck (a 2005 King Ranch 5.4) used with the programmer in it and does not have the original receipt. Anyone have any advice?

Good grief! Hypertech can't point you to a firmware or software update that would recognize the newer hex code? It's hardly "brand new". I have the same truck and my PCM has NEVER been flashed (Bill Cohron at PHP once told me my hex code was the latest one.)

Sounds like we are SOL, glad I purchased a Gryphon CS from Bill for MY 09 5.4
