Edge programmer and GPS problem??

WE have a 2007 F150 with factory GPS. Just installed the Edge programmer and it works great. But we noticed when it is plugged into the port, the GPS doesn't pick up the satellite. As soon as the EDGE unit is unplugged, it works fine. Has anyone run into this issue? It's bizarre, I can't imagine anything in the installation that would cause this.

My GPS is an aftermarket Kenwood/Garmin. It works fine with the Edge/Gryphon. Sounds like some kind of antenna problem in your GPS. Do you know where the antenna is?

Don't know, will check. The gps has NEVER acted up at anytime, until right after the edge was installed. And now, when unplugged gps works perfectly. Thanks for responding.

I was thinking of "antenna interference". The GPS antenna may be picking up electrical "noise" from the Edge or the OBDII cable, if it's nearby.

But, you're the first person I know of that's ever reported this problem.

I appreciate it, Jack! It's something we haven't tried. My son has the truck and will be back today. I guess we can try just letting the cord hang free to see if they can work together. I really appreciate your reply -- if you think of ANYTHING else please let me know.

Longshot's thought of wrapping the cord in aluminum foil might help - especially if you could "ground" it somehow (maybe just have the foil touch bare metal).

A question - what kind of Edge programmer do you have? Is it the CS/CTS platform or the older, monochrome Evolution?

And, I wonder if the interference is from the Edge "box" or the cord? Try to keep both as far away from the GPS as possible.

The EDGE unit is brand new. I'll suggest the foil. I had thought about that but wondered if was "shielding" enough. And I don't know where the actual GPS antenna is on the truck. We'll have to find out. I think the next step is logically to move both far away and see if it helps. Thanks for the ideas, keep them coming if possible. I promise I'll write back and let you know when we get this figured out.
