What I'm trying to ask here is, are all xcal3's the same as far as the unit and software that is on them? Yes, I am refering to a unlocked unit. Ok, say I buy a new xcal3 labeled for a mustang, could I order custom tunes for my truck and still be able to load them on that unit, and have it work? I am look at getting some tunes from 5 Star.

I was looking on the sct website and was trying to figure out what the difference is between the SF3 Power Flash and the X3 Power Flash.

What's the difference?

One of them comes preloaded with 'canned' tunes. The other comes with no tunes on it, so you must get a 'custom' tune and load it to the programmer

You may need to update the programmer's firmware and software to make the changes. Downloads are available on SCT's website as well as software you need to download to your computer to load on the programmer. SCT has good customer support, so give them a call. They can walk you through what you need to do.

I considered buying used when I was in the programmer shopping mode. After weighing out all the options, I thought the big picture wasn't worth the hundred dollar savings, over buying a used device of unknown history, or whether it was dropped, or wet, or whatever. Mike at 5startuning.com was absolutely fantastic to deal with. I cannot say enough good things about his service, speed, and attitude.

I just purchased my X3 from Mike @ 5 Star 2 wks ago. I had an X3 that I ran on my 6.0 diesel and I called him to see if I could use it on the F150. He asked if the serial # on back began with an X3 or XP. Of course mine was X3 so it was NOT the enhanced version therefore I needed a new one. I got his Labor day special X3 with 2 tunes for $389 to my door. Definately an improvement, I would recommend him to anyone. So, check the serial # and it wouldn't hurt to call him also just to be sure. That was for my 2010, your 07 might be different? Just my .02
