question to PHP about Gryphon
question to PHP about Gryphon
I have a 2001 f150 5.4L and my edge evo is saying error code F1 and heres the link to my problems. Can you fix this programmer and retune and reboot this programmer. I am tired of ****ty edge problems.
summary to the problem with the edge
I had a few electrical problems such as a bad engine to battery ground which caused a short and eventually killed the battery. I tried jumping it and nothing but the edge was still on level 2 and fine. I changed the battery after i got it home i put the edge back to stock setting basically uninstalled the edge. Then took the connections off the battery to fill it with water and let the computer reset roughly 1 hour the truck was unconnected from the battery. Connected it back truck started and ran fine. Then the problem began
I plugged in the edge I get a display saying unable to locate SPLASH.LCD
Then it goes to the reg display so then i try to do a program to level 2 usually it gives me a option to custom tune since I have done it before. No option so I go on and just let the stock tune run its course it goes through the 4 sections of reading then I got this message. ERROR CODE F1 VEHICLE CALIBRATION IS NOT YET SUPPORTED CHECK FOR UPDATE AND CALL SUPPORT IF YOUR VERSION IS CURRENT.
This is what it says when I go to read the version info
BOOTLOADER VX.XXX
PRODUCT E4.XX.XXX
FIRMWARE-08
EXTERNAL MEMORY IS CORRPUPT
Any Ideas?
Thanks

I already did they said its an old version needs and didnt really explain the issue. They wanted a 100 bucks for me to send the old one to them and send a new refurbished unit with new software and current version since mine is 4 years old and said i would be good to go then.
I don't like to be the bearer of bad news but that might be your only option......
With your electrical issues and NOT UNPLUGGING the programmer while jump starting or changing the battery you have possibly fried the cable or bricked(locked up) the programmer.......
So a $100 dollars to remedy the issue isn't necessarily inexpensive way to FIX the issue .
It looks like the only option you have......if you still want to use a programmer....
Those electrical issues aren't good for the edge evolutions or gryphon's....

If you're happy using it as a display then keep it.....
So, if it's a Gryphon and your truck is at Level 0 (stock tune), you MAY be able to restore your tune files using Pegasus, which is what you used to download your tunes. I'd do it in two steps:
1. With Pegasus running, connect the programmer to the PC and click on [Updates]->[Gryphon Update Manager]. This should rewrite all firmware and restore the canned tunes (calibrations) in your Gryphon.
2. If that seems to work, reconnect to the PC and click on [Updates]->[Custom File Download]. Assuming your custom tunes are still on the server (they're supposed to be), they should download and reinstall.
Before you connect your Gryphon, click on [Updates]->[Pegasus Update Manager] to make sure you're using the latest Pegasus version, which is Ver 2.02.0994.2. If that seems to work, reconnect to the PC and click on [Updates]->[Custom File Download]. Assuming your custom tunes are still on the server (they're supposed to be), they should download and reinstall.
Now, if your truck is not at the stock tune, or if what I said doesn't work, you'll need to contact PHP.

I suspect the programmer and cable are fine too, if it displays PIDs normally. My guess is the tune files are corrupted.

My programmer is a edge evo from edge not a PHP I was wondering if I can send it to PHP for 75 dollars I see they can reburn the programmer with 3 tunes if so I would just rather do that. Everything works it powers up and can use all the features of the unit just doesnt let me program the truck I get a error code F1 and it doesnt let me complete the tune. The truck is currently at stock setting/stock tune.
PHP quit doing upgrades with the edge evolutions to monochrome gryphon for the 97-03+04h f150's.....
Try Jacks suggestion except use edge's fusion instead......
I will try that once I find the cable to connect to the edge to the computer
Correct - PHP can't help you with that unit. Edge should be able to do something for you though. When you called it a Gryphon, in the title, it confused me.

Any arcing on the vehicles electrical system that the programmers plugged into can be potentially dangerous for the programmer.....and using jumper cables your actually adding on an extension of the vehicles electrical system.....best advice is when in doubt just unplug the programmer......
