tuner destroying trany?

Is it probable that my sct x3 by vmp is destroying my trany? Ever since I got a new tune from him my truck has hummed in the lower rpms.

A hum by itself doesn't mean anything. Do you have any other mods, like a CAI?

I don't have q Cai. But I have cat back exhaust, its coming from the trany or front end. I did firm them up in the past. But took it back down.

Would firming the shift points hurt the trans? I'd like to know too.

Firmer shifts=less clutch slip and that is a good thing because to much slip and you burn the clutches up if you adding more power. But to add to that to hard of a shift and there is no give when everything locks up and you will start damaging parts.

using a tuning device to firm up the shifts you stress the pump

Curious why all these custom tune shops recommend firm shifts?

Less slippage = less clutch wear = lower fluid temps.

This. OEMs soften the shifts to make it smoother to make everyone happy. So when ur grandma is in the truck shes not complaining how rough it is. Just like all the other little crap they do to kill the party uight not even realize. Like that little waffle cast design insider stock intake box is actually designed to quite the intake rush noise we all like

But a little tranny whine is usually fine unless it's way more apparent than before. Is it actually a trans whine or is it more of a buzzing like a fuel pump just delivering more fuel?

No its a mechanical wine at low rpms sounds like a bad belt in a tire. I don't think it would be the fuel pump? It does make weird noises when im downloading a tune tho???
