Best setting for Fuel mileage

I have the edge Evo. I think I might actually get better mileage on Stock over their economy setting. What does everyone use for mileage? Does it matter for highway use or city? I am upgrading to gryphon in a bit, but for the next 3-4 weeks I'd prefer not to burn more than I have to.

For the Edge (canned) Level 1 is probably your best bet for $/mile.

However, if you bought the Edge expecting MPG gains, you will likely be dissapointed.

Even custom tunes will probably not help. If they do, it will probably be less than 1 MPG. However, I have heard of documented 1.5 MPG gains. Improvements depend on the truck and the driver.

If you really want to improve your MPG: Reduce weight, accelerate slowly, coast to stop signs and lights, DRIVE THE SPEED LIMIT, keep your tires properly inflated, etc.

Finally, don't rely on the truck computer or the Edge. Calculate after each fill-up and maintain a log. I store mine on a spreadsheet and at Fuelly.com.

For me (so your results may not be the same) the tow tune gets best mileage in the city where I'm constantly stopping and starting but my 87 performance tune gets better mileage on the highway. Both of them usually beat stock by at least 1 mpg on paper when I drive correctly.

And shotgun has it nailed, driver habits effect mileage more than a tune.

2008 SCrew 4x2 5.4, Gryphon w 87 tow, 87 perf tunes- Gotts, Mag SISO, 2/4 GF kit -half city, half hwy driving-

I've picked up about 1.5 mpg total with my mods, I'd give credit for about .5 mpg to the Gryphon. But, it drives WAY better- so I'm good.

I went for a test run that included about 50/50 city highway. Stock - 15.1 mpg. Lvl 1 - 16.5 mpg. I haven't done the same trip w lvl 2 yet, but I've been driving the last few days on lvl 2 and if I set the cruise at 35, I get between 16 and 22 depending on grade.

Both computers are inaccurate and inconsistent.

Best MPG results

Get a 2 inch block of wood. Something small. Mount it behind the gas pedal.
That should do the trick for ya!

Buy a honda?

haha. there was a local guy that did that on bracket racing night w/ his old camaro, perfect launch everytime.

a while back i read a write up on here with a guy trying to improve mileage. Apparently the tuner he had was alerting him any time he went over 2200 rpm so he could keep his foot out of it. he was reporting 2-3mpg gains just w/ a driving habit change. So I tried it the last 2 weeks. I drive about 400 miles a week so i went from normal(normal to me is slightly aggressive to others) 14.3mpg to 16.1 on the 1st fill up and then 15.9 on the 2nd. I'm still sitting at 1/2 a tank w/ over 200 miles on this tank so I'm pretty sure habit is key here, however boring it may be. I also found that keeping it under 65 helps a ton.

The Edge is designed and meant for stock trucks (no intake tube modifications)...
