Gryphon CS Screen Issues

Got my Gryphon CS back in January. Zero problems with it until yesterday. It was damn near 100 degrees here yesterday and I didn't notice it until I was halfway home after work but my screen was blank. I played with it a bit (hit the menu button etc.) and it eventually came back on but would kind of flutter on and off then go blank again. I even tried turning my truck off and back on but that didn't help. It finally came on for good and stayed that way the rest of the way home. Could it have been the high temperatures?? I checked all my connections and all seemed fine. Same thing happened this morning on my way to work. Any thoughts???

Until you said the, "Same thing happened this morning", I would have bet on high temperatures. LCD screens don't really like temperature extremes, and sitting up on the dash, it can get pretty hot in the sun. But, I doubt it was hot in the morning?

So, I have no real advice, except to try to protect it from direct sunlight and if the problem continues, contact PHP. Since you bought it from them and not Edge, they're your "customer support" people, even if it's an Edge hardware problem.

Thanks for the reply. It was fine on my way home yesterday and was fine again this morning. I guess I can chalk it up to the temperature unless it happens again.

Well no luck with the screen. I didn't drive my truck all weekend but on the way to work yesterday the screen was totally blank. Hasn't come back on since. I posted on PHP's website and Cody told me to contact Edge and I would have to get my CS reparied or replaced. I'm assuming it is a backlight issue. My only concern is without being able to see the screen I cannot set my truck back to stock. Cody assured me that this wouldn't be an issue and that Bill would be able to rewrite me a stock file to download along with my original 3 custom tunes if my unit had to be replaced. If Edge just swaps out the backlight I shouldn't have to worry about having to redownload my tunes, right??

There's a great chance that your stock tune maybe wiped off the cs....this will be done when they test it....

Not a 100% sure it will happen but they might update the firmware and when that happens the stock tune will be gone...

Called Edge this afternoon and they said it is a known issue with the backlight. All they have to do is swap out the module that controls the backlight and it will be good to go. I told them that I have custom tunes from PHP and the customer service rep assured me that he would make an alert note not to reset or update my CS. I was told that they don't normally reset or update the units anyway, but they wanted to make sure I didn't lose my custom and stock tunes. Said it should be a week turnaround. I'm glad I don't have to get my unit replaced and Edge customer service was exceptional.
