Tuner Question

I'm new to the tuners, and exactly how they work. I have a 97 F150, with the 4.6. I was looking at this one, as others have issues with the cords from what i've read.

Now my question is, i have two 97's, both have the 4.6s. One is a 2wd, other is 4x4. The 2wd has a k&n cai done aswell. If i have tunes written for both, can i use the tuner for BOTH trucks? As i drive the 2wd during summer months, and 4x4 in the winter. So it wont be constantly reloading stock/custom tunes on a near daily basis.

You're actually in luck, as long as you stick with "canned", not "custom" tunes. You can use the programmer in your summer truck in the warm weather, set it back to stock when it gets cold and use it in the winter truck during the winter months, setting it to stock when things warm up and moving back to your summer truck.

Now, you HAVE to have a programmer that doesn't have a "limit" on the number of times your do this, and I cannot recall if the SCT SF3 programmer has this limit or not. AN X3 with custom tunes WILL NOT work in two different trucks!

There are other programmers that will work for you in this case. The CS/CTS platforms will certainly work and I think Sniper makes one that would too. I don't know about Diablo, but since you have CAI's I think I'd look into Diablo for the least expensive solution.

Alright, thanks. I'll have to contact and see what can be done. if not, i'll just run the tuner in one truck and save for a second in the other if it feels necessary
