Original Edge vs. Edge CS

Original Edge vs. Edge CS

Just wondering what are the biggest advantages of the CS over the original Edge programmer. I have the original, thatI was planning to send to PHP to convert to a Gryphon, and was wondering if the CS is a better idea. I know that converting mine is definitley the cheaper route. Just wondering?

since you're getting a custom tune I wouldn't worry about it

Yep. In fact the Evo has features that haven't been 'implemented' in the new CS/CTS platform.

Keep your original edge evolution and get it converted to a Gryphon.......

With the CS, edge took away some end user adjustments that are supposed to be reimplimented but as of yet are not......

Ditto - the custom tunes are the same in either unit.

The CS offers more "bling" than the monochrome Gryphon and should be more reliable if used in the pre-04 trucks due to problems with the OBD cables in those units. The CS could have its tunes "upgraded" though for an 09+ truck if you decided to trade up. The monochrome evolution can't be used beyond the 08 model year.

I have another question along these lines. Edge is showing Fusion, and now Lightning software to use for updating the EVo. Which one should I be using, I currently have Fusion.

Glen, this is confusing, to say the least: Here's what it says on Edge's website about Lightning:
*This software only works on
EEF2100 versions E4.XX.XX
This is found on the silver
serial sticker on bottom of
product.
EEF2400 – Ford F-150 2004-2007
*This software only works on
EEF2400 versions E3.XX.XX
This is found on the silver
serial sticker on bottom of
product.
Now, Lightning actually existed BEFORE Fusion, and Fusion was supposed to be a multi-application program. So, I'd say if Fusion works with your unit, stay with it.

That is kind of what I was thinking. I figure I will use it until it stops working then try Lightning. By the way I have sent two emails to Egde requesting clarification, with no response.
