New Guy dumb question

I am a novice on this site and even more so with my new Edge EVO CTS. I have only had my tuner for a little over a week and just ran the first full tank of gas with the Eco canned setting.

I experienced a little bit of pinging and additionally, I didn't see much of a difference. Got 13 MPG.

Also, I have read some previous threads about Gryphon. I went to the PHP website. I AM NOW CONFUSED. What is this Gryphon? I saw some posts about guys getting better results on both Economy AND Performance.

Is Gryphon different tune programs?

Help out a new guy? (Boot in jarhead terms!)

Semper Fi.

A Gryphon is an Edge that's been modified to accept custom tunes. Is that simple enough?

Thank you for your service.

Your CTS can have custom tunes delivered via Edge's Fusion application(no need to send the unit to PHP like the previous Evolution tuners).

However, please note the CS and CTS DO NOT program the TCM (at this time) and PHP's lead times for custom tunes are pretty long (I've been waiting since early September).

Thanks for the info shotgunz. I like the Fuelly webstie- pretty nifty. I do have the Fusion software. I will go that route - thanks for the clarification.

Yes - I don't like the "pinging" comment either. Keep in mind that 2009-2010 truck systems are new (a separate Engine Control Module "ECM" and a Transmission Control Module "TCM"). It's very possible that Edge has not worked out all the bugs. They need all the feedback they can get on these new tunes, so DO call them if things aren't right.
