Anyone w/CS get PHP tunes yet (09+)?
They are getting there quickly. I have been working with Bill at PHP regularly who in turn is working with Edge. I recommend that you wait a few weeks to see if the TCM support does indeed come out soon - I believe that it will. I have reason to believe that user adjustment of the timing will be available for custom tunes soon as well.
As far as the CTS tuner goes, here is my take:
1. The gauges are really nice. This is especially important since the Ford gauges for engine temperature and transmission temperature are basically warning lights with a red arm. They don't budge from just below normal operating temperature to way hot.
2. The mounting is very nice with the dash pod.
3. The canned tunes from Edge didn't work well for me. They pinged even with 93 octane on the tow tune.
4. My custom tunes from PHP are great. My 0-60 dropped from between 8.2 - 8.5 to a consistent 7.8 seconds. The tip-in throttle response is much improved. Also, I can climb a hill now in 6th gear at 60 MPH that always downshifted before. I can even accelerate without shifting.
5. The transmission downshift at highway speed is still a dog. Hopefully the TCM program will fix this.
6. The "firmer" shifts at WOT are a result of the torque management being disabled. It can be disabled for tip-in and/or shifting. For shifting, this allows the engine to power through the shifts instead of back-off just before the shift making the shift feel firmer that it really is. I asked Bill to turn torque management on shifts back on for my tunes. I did leave it off for tip-in since I like being able to have full power right away when launching.
7. The mileage seems a little better, but it is hard to tell since the truck is so temperature sensitive when it comes to gas mileage. I get about 16.5 in the winter and 17.5 in the summer in mixed driving with my 09 4x4 5.4 KR SCREW 3.55 gears (6370 lbs with me in it)
8. Bill at PHP is great to work with - a really nice and knowledgeable guy. He is a little hard to contact though. Calling around noon seems to be the best way.
I hope this helps!

I have a stock 2010 Platinum. I may perform the Gotts mod and add exhaust for sound down the road. I would need a custom tune (perf) as the mid-grade fuel in my area is the cheapest...89 if I recall.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Definitely helps! I'm 99.9% sure that I will purchase one...had an evo in my 2006 and loved it. Will the current Gryphons work with the TCM mods when they become available? I take it that the only way to control the torque management function is through programming vs a CTS menu option. I like the idea of reserving the function for normal driving and turning it off for tip-in.

The current Edge / PHP CS/CTS units are expected to work with the TCM shortly. I will likely beta test this and let the group know what I think as soon as I can.
It's not really a Gryphon, it is an Edge CS or CTS programmed by Bill Cohronl at PHP. The torque management function is only changed via a custom tune. I don't see any need for torque management on tip-in. I can do this manually by not tromping the pedal. It is nice to have full wheel smoking torque off of the line. Not that I make a habit of smoking my tires, but my tuned 5.4 has no problem lighting up both of my tires (I have a limited slip rear) for at least a second on take off on dry roads. I cannot manually back off the torque a split second before shifts, so I want the ECM to take care of that for me.

Wonder if Bill and/or Cody is going to update us 09-10 owners that already have custom tunes?
Now that's the type of real-world feedback I crave! Thanks for the info. I will order one and have it custom tuned before they ship it...if I can somehow get the code off my truck. I have about 1.5 mos. left here in Afghanistan and would love to have this waiting for me. I hope the TCM tune works well. Thanks a million!

Quick Ques
I have an order in to PHP for a tune and I asked for the torque management to be removed on tip in. However, I'm wondering if I should leave it through the second gear to help eliminate the weird 1-2 2-1 shifting problem. Any harm in removing it through all gears? Thanks in advance!
