4.2 over 100, i'd say your doing very good... ahaha
x3 on your gas comment
And I find it comical that you keep referring to your truck as "The Ford" in your posts while stating that its a piece of junk because its got a limiter on it. I'd agree, get a tuner... take away the rev limiters and gov settings and rapp that sucker out until it explodes... then go buy yourself a Dodge Dakota and let us know how it handles hitting past its speed limiter if it doesn't **** a transmission before then.

Have I been over 100 MPH in a Ford F150? Yes.

Was it on a public road? No, it was at Bonneville for fun (105 before my sanity returned and I backed off).

If you want to go that fast that is fine, but please, do it somewhere safe, NOT on a public road. And when you do wreck (not if, when) make sure that you are the only vehicle and person killed or severly injured in the wreck.

Personally, getting in a high speed crash in a stock body F150 without safety equipment or set up for high speeds is not even on my bucket list. After barrel rolling through the speed traps at 150 plus in a full roll cage, I tend to now drive well within the legal limits anymore. And when I ever get the speed bug again, I'll make sure it will be in a properly prepared vehicle with proper safety equipment, and on a closed to the public race track.

Then again, if you want to win a Darwin Award, feel free.

I too have done about 100 in my 4.6... this was on a Public back road however that had recently been repaved and is a 3 miles straight away... Still it was stupid seeing as that whole area is well known for moose that love to randomly stroll across the road regardless of vehicles. If one had stepped out, no doubt I would have been dead on impact, same goes for if I had blown a tires at those speeds.

Yea we have all done STUPID things when we were young.
GOD LOOKS AFTER ORPHANS AND IDIOTS! I know who my parents are so that puts me in the latter class ha ha!

However that doesn't make it alright. Sounds to me like some body's daddy ought to take some one out to the wood shed and SPANK the p** out of him. Any one who drives like that and publicly brags is just plain STUPID! Maybe Papa doesn't know he is liable for his spawn!
I know when I was caught by my old man when I was a kid there was no need for a laxitive-if ya know what I mean.

Get a tune and up the speed limiter and move the rev limit to 6200. Enjoy.

And if you have an automatic with a stock torque converter, you better get a bell housing blanket.

should be 4k at 100 in 4th gear. unless you changed your rear end to 4.10s or something. i have 3.55s and it is exactly 4k in 4th

yeah but a jeep liberty is at 130+ and a f150 is at 100....thats the confusing part. a jeep is from an off-raoding type manufacturer and it goes 130+?

get a tune-yes, but i wouldnt advise moving the rev limiter AT ALL. at 5k the 4.2L falls on its face anyways so why bump it up from 5200?

shifting at 5200 rpm puts you in a lower spot (rpm) in the next gear where as if the shift completes at 6200 the next gear is in the sweet spot for making power. If you are going to mod the truck might as well get all the help you can get. And yes spinning to 6200 rpm will cause torque converter failure.

actually with 3.55s it pretty much drops in a good rpm area. goes from 5k to about 3k in 2nd and 3rd. then 4th and 5th are lower. if you get 4.10s you will most likely want to skip 2nd gear since you will already be at 3500+ after you shift. 3rd would probably drop right around the 3500 area im guessing. also i forgot to mention. the 97-05 4.2L doesnt sem to lose too much power after 5k but it is limited at 5400 in a manual. may be different rpms for different years. my 04 heritage was 5400. my 08 is 5200 but like i said it falls on its face at 5k so when i do get on it, thats where i shift.

i had my 04 heritage up to about 108(figured it out by using tach past 100 since the speedo only went to 100). my 08 is limited at 100. but even if i got my speed limiter raised, i wouldnt want to do it until i got some new tires that were speed rated higher. the stockers are only rated for 108 and i have heard some horrible stories about them. like bursting while the truck is parked and such. they are hancooks. which i have no idea who makes them. i have heard they are cheapies made by cooper but i doubt it.

Im on Timberline A/T's. They have some damn good traction. I got em on the back right now and been launching the **** out of the 4.6 lately, much better than the H/T's. Both I believe are speed rated for 115 MPH
