Any options for 09/10 trucks to be tuned?

I was looking for info on the edge but couldn't find anything anywhere so I assumed there was nothing out yet but thought I'd ask the site if anyone knew anything but my post came back with nothing.(except for a sarcastic remark by shotgunz. Thank you so much).

ANYWAY, what other programmers are any of you 09/10 guys/gals using in your F150. More than anything I want a tune because of the weird shifting my truck does. Not concerned about all that much more HP. Driveability and gas savings is what I'd be looking for.

Any HELP would be appreciated.

Sarcasm aside, (and it was well done, sorry ) he did answer yer question:

"The only canned tuners I know of for the 09/10 F150 are Diablo and Hypercrap. The SCT X3 does support it, but you'll need custom tunes."

PHP can provide tuning on an SCT platform, as can VMP and Troyer Performance.

For canned, refer to Diablosport's site.

Good luck.

Check with an SCT dealer. They have codes for 2009 F-150s, possibly 2010s by now.

I don't think that is still valid. I show canned tunes in my SCT PRP data base for the 2009 5.4v. But you would be better off with customs tunes. Give SCT a call at 1-477-774-2447 and they may be able to give you a target date for the 2010s.

Thanks MGDfan. To be honest, I never got down that far in his post because of the negative remarks. I shouldn't be suprised because most all car related forums all full of people like this. Lot's of cut throat, finger pointing and I know more about everything than anyone!

f150perk, I agree with part of your post. Many forums are the way you describe. You want to get REALLY cut to ribbons? Try a programmer's forum.

In this one, though, we TRY to be more civil. There are three of us however, that like to have fun outdoing each other in the sarcasm department. MDGfan and shotgunz are the masters at this and 88racing sometimes joins in. Those of us who've lived in this forum for a while just enjoy it because these guys are actually good guys and they DO know quite a lot about the subjects that are discussed here.

So, glad to have you with us, and hope you find this forum to be as useful as the rest of us have.

- Jack

Your use and mine are about the same. I tow a travel trailer, so I considered a tune for that as well.

I have an XCal3 with Bill's tunes (PHP). Nothing fancy. 89 Octane tunes. I loaded the performance tune once back in April and it was very much an improvement over stock. In my opinion, it's the way the truck should perform shifting, and much more crisp than stock. I never hammered on it, but the response was great.

I returned the truck to stock within a day as we were going on a 2700 mile trip, and I was hesitant to run it so far from home without previous experiences with the tune. I do not like the way it takes 45 minutes to load the tunes or return to stock. With all the other trucks I have tuned in the past (gas or diesel), it only took minutes then. This 45 minute load is just weird. And because I always liked to change between tow and performance tunes between trailer hauls, the new 45 minute deal is making me consider selling the Xcal all together.

Until I tow my trailer stock, first, I am not making any decisions. I think the factory could use some real transmission tuning experience, though. My stock tuned transmission still develops hiccups ocassionally - from dead pedal to hard downshifts just before completely stopping at a stop sign. It is, however, always smooth.

Seriously? 45 minutes? I've never timed my 2008, but I doubt it's more than a coupe of minutes to do either. I would contact SCT and find out if that's normal.

I have a 2010, not a 2008. As I said in my post, my earlier models (2008, 2007, 2005) all took minutes. Yes, seriously, the 2009's and 2010's take 40 to 45 minutes to tune. This is normal, so new buyers, beware.

I got that. I wouldn't have thought the PCMs would be that different. With a 45 minute download, you best make sure you have a good battery or risk damaging the PCM.

This has been discussed quite a bit on PHP's forums.

As an extra level of security you may want to attach a trickle charge/battery tender to your battery (in addition to turning off all electrical loads).
