ugghhhhhh.....gryphon will not power on....
Ok about a month ago..., I go and get into my truck and start it up. I look over and my Gryphon was off. I checked the connection, and it was good. Turned the truck back on and still nothing. Disconnected and reconnected the gryphon at both ends and tried again. Still, nothing. I've had this thing for about a year and a half and do not sit there playing with it. It stays on 87 performance or 93 performance whenever I have the money to put that gas in. Any idea what to do. I sent bill an email about when it first happened but have heard nothing from him. I then found out about their family emergency, so I understand. But I would love to hear any ideas as to what I could do...
Check your fuse panel. The diagnostic connector and cigarette lighter use the same fuse. Fuse 41? I can't remember which one, I think it is a 20A fuse. Check your trucks manual to be sure. Most of the time a blown fuse causes this issue.
Another way to check this is to try your cigarette lighter first. That should be a good way to check it.

well...crap....not once did I even think about checking the fuse...and as a matter of fact I know my cigarette lighter does not work...wow, i'm an idiot. Thanks rednoved, I will check it tom. afternoon..
I had the same problem Friday morning. I got in the truck, it started fine, look over, no Gryphon power. I wiggled the plug, nothing. Shut the truck down, pulled the key, removed the plug below the dash, plugged it back in, turned the key and it came on. Everything was normal. I just chocked it up to the incredibly bad luck i had the night before looking for a hotel room at 11:30 at night south-bound in Georgia on spring break weekend...

Sometimes it is as if my fuse comes loose or something. I have had this happen numerous times, I believe the fuse for the test port/cig lighter is only a 5 amp fuse. I have had to pop off the fuse cover and just press on the fuse and the gryphon lit right up. I have since replaced ALL of my fuses (as most of them were 11 years old) and the problem has resided.
OP, did that fix the problem? I looked at the 2006 manual and it says the Cigar lighter and Diagnostic connector is fuse location 41 and a 20A fuse.
According to the 2000 F150 manual, the Cigar Lighter and OBD-II Scan Tool
Connector is fuse location 3 and also a 20A fuse.
You probably wont have issues with the 5A fuse, but I would consider switching it to a 20A. It should have been that way from the factory.

the fuses that are loose like that, are usually a result of having a fuse tap in the fuse box. they tend to bend the contacts in the box a little, causing the fuse to be loose...if it happens again, give the prongs on the fuse a little bit of a bend in the opposite directions up on one and down on the other to help it make better contact!!
