Edge programmer 2008 F-150 Help

I purchased an Edge programmer off of e-Bay and installed it per the instructions. Took the truck out for a test drive in transmission mode and everything seemed to work great although I didn’t seem to notice a difference. I changed the program to the second setting "tow" followed all the on screen instructions and as it was finishing up the programming the starter engaged and would not stop until I turned off the ignition key. Unplugged the programmer and the starter still stays engaged. Pulled the starter relay and tried to set the programmer back to stock mode and the starter still will not disengage. Any Ideas? Truck is a 2008 F-150 King Ranch

Thanks. Kevin

Sounds as if something is going on with your key switch. Don't see a way in the world for the Edge to have anything to do with the starter. Your key has got to be engaging the starter and shouldn't be.

Or, the starter relay is "stuck" in the closed position. Since the starter didn't run with the relay disconnected, I think we can safely rule out a solenoid malfunction.

But I agree Jim, it sounds like a ignition switch problem. And, there's nothing in a tune that would engage the starter. A metal fragment in the switch perhaps completing the "Start" circuit?

I wonder if moving the key to Start and then back to Run would reset things? (Dislodge any fragment).

To the OP: Did you get the tune back to stock? I think I'd get it to a dealership and have them fix it. The truck should still be under warranty.

It's going to the dealership on Tuesday 3-9. I will post what the problem was. Yes I did return to stock.

Not the first time I've read this problem. I'll see if I can find the other thread.
