I've heard many times your edge needs a good battery to do its job. So at what minimal amount of volts on my battery would I need to be concerned with? Right now while driving my battrey display on my edge ha s a reading of 14.4 v on average.

Good morning, Mr. Wacki!

Here you go:

It's the TOP value you are striving for - anything less is going to incur additional risk.

So to answer yer question - 12.6 volts can be considered the minimum. Folks have even flashed with small battery tenders attached to eliminate battery state as a factor.

There is absolutely no point in determining at what voltage the flash process begins to fail - as this is a real good way to brick yer PCM. If you cannot assure maximum charge - simply DO NOT FLASH. Sorry - no other way to put it.

Please note that ambient temperature is also going to affect flashing reliability - always try to keep everything well above the freezing point.

Ensure ALL extraneous electrical loads are minimized. Turn off yer 2000w eardrum rupturing system fer instance...

Oh yeah - that reading on yer Edge is with engine running, alternator active. It is not going to be at this level engine off ( i.e the state in which flashing will take place).

Good luck sir.

Good morning fellas!
Just to add to MGD's enlightening post.
Try not to program under 30*F, if you need to, try to run vehicle for 10-20 minutes or find a heated space.
Don't try to program the truck after its been sitting for awhile, like a week. Once again fire it up and run it for awhile. This is where a battery tender would come in handy.

Take care!

Have a great and wonderful day!
