Maybe you could put me on your ignore list until this thread dies?

have you returned the vehicle to stock? unless you have done this and the unit reads level 0 before removing it from the truck it will not update.

yeah i returned it to stock. I think i just need to call edge on the programmer, i changed levels on it the other day and it made a bunch of error codes come up and warning lights come on in my truck so i thought an update might help. Im just gonna take my truck into the dealership and have the computer reflashed back to stock if they can.

It would be a pleasure to help you out if you could elaborate on those error codes and if you could provide more of a detailed description of exactly what the events were.

Oh, let's not play the 'poor pitiful me' card. We're all big boys and it just doesn't fly.

Unfortunately we are not mind-readers (well MGD Fan might be).

If you had combined this post:

I had been on the edge site and the had the lightning and fusion software all downloaded already. When i plug my programmer in it wont let me update. Didn't know if i was missing something simple.
and this post:

yeah i returned it to stock. I think i just need to call edge on the programmer, i changed levels on it the other day and it made a bunch of error codes come up and warning lights come on in my truck so i thought an update might help. As your first post, we might have been able to help you.

However, when your first post is:

How did u get it to update? I cant figure out how to update mine.
we figure you're either

a) Lazy and/or have not yet discovered GOOGLE
b) too stupid to find Edge's website, contact Edge customer support, and/or RTFM.

Since you own a FORD truck, we kindly assumed that you were "a" and had a little at your expense.

Now if you will just tell us what the real symptoms are, Doctors Jack, MGD Fan (IF HE'S NOT DRUNK ), and 88Racing can probably help you out.

i got an issue you can try to figure out.....when im cruising in OD around 60 and smash the pedal to the floor, the rpms shoot up but there is a delay in the thunk of the tranny dropping down to 3rd gear.....i had my buddy at the ford dealer today drive it and he says he thinks its the computer trying to catch up to the programmer something to do with the fly by wire throttle body but he wasnt sure.....i did have a bill custom tune 2 years ago but have since sold that edge and just bought another....bill did have issues writing a custom tune for it back then and that was the reason i sold it due to the fact that i was going to have to drive to his shop so he could put it on his computer to try to fix it.......im wondering if the pcm has some remnants left in it from his custom tune? but i have had the truck reflashed since then and it throws no code.....tell me what you think

Reflashing the PCM seems a bit extreme to me, and it would be an expensive mistake if you have not returned your truck to the stock tune.

So, I'm going to ask you. Did you return your truck to the stock tune after getting all those "error" codes? If so, what happened? If the codes went away, we can probably assume the tune was responsible. Was this the first time you ever tried to program your truck? If not, did the codes appear on any other tunes? Did you call Edge Tech Support about this? You pay for that support when you buy an Edge, so you're being stupid if you don't use it.

And just for the heck of things, what year and engine model truck do you have? To get any kind of meaningful help, you have to be able to say more than, "It doesn't work!"

I doubt seriously there's any remnant code remaining in your PCM now. You of course returned your PCM to stock before selling your old Edge and then having the dealer reflash the PCM is guaranteed to completely change things to a whole new "stock" strategy.

There is ALWAYS going to be a bit of a delay between your command of a lower gear and the transmission actually getting there. It's a mechanical device and nothing can or should happen instantly.

You might try adjusting your "WOT Shift Firmness" settings. These decrease or increase the delay between clutch band release and lockup during a WOT shift, which is what you're asking it to do. As a rough guess, you might try settings of +12 for the 3-2 and 2-1 downshifts and +9 for the 4-3 downshift. These are settings Bluejay used on his "stock" Edge as I recall. You DO want to keep the change at 3-4 or 4-3 smaller than for the other two, to prevent putting too much stress on things.

From Edge website: **Please Note: Currently the Lighting software will not work on Vista software or any Mac computers.

Any way around this? Trying to upgrade my unit.

Why not call their Tech Support and ask? You get a "straight" answer this way.

Hello & Gooooood Mornin' to you sir!

Well, just fer you sir, I refreshed my Depends, grabbed a cup o' Joe, then I went ahead and installed Lighning on one of my test systems. This one is running Window 7 Ultimate, 32-bit at the moment. Lightning installed fine (Run As Administrator), as did the USB<-->UART device driver.

Without an actual Edge to test (I long ago converted all my colleagues into SCT Disciples, lol), I can't go any farther. Lightning launches aight, connects to the InterDweebs, but will not proceed until a recognized Edge device is connected. Cheeky bugger, that, lol.

Looks promising though. Have you considered upgrading? Win 7 is far more kind to legacy devices & apps than Vista.

I hope this help you some ....

Cheers!

Pitch vista and upgrade to windows 7.
Edge probably had issues with usb drivers and the uac.
Vista has a quirky behavior with certain software downloads.

Hello and good morning to you, Mr. 88!

Note - UAC is still evident - hence my comments in previous post to always Run As Administrator (right-click on the executable to select this, and answer any pop-ups appropriately ).

Cheers sir!
