Bluejay is right. This is One of the best mods was buying a SCT X3 with a custome tune from VMP. You will feel like you have a diffrent truck. Do advance search on VMP, PHP & Troyer.

One of the first things I did after buying my latest F150 with a V8 was to research tuners for the application, and to pick up the one I thought was the best, an Edge Evolution, mainly for its ability to monitor certain things while the vehicle is moving. This was the second performance thing I did to the vehicle after I purchased it (the Gott's intake mod was first), and was the best. I currently use the Level 2 - Towing canned tune, and love it !!! It improves my low end acceleration, improves transmission shifting to where I like it, and gave me a 2 MPG improvement. Not bad !!!

I just got an edge and it rocks! If you are planning on doing future mods like air intake and exhaust you should get a Gryphon. Its like the edge but you can get custom tunes.

It doesn't make a huge difference for power, versus a diesel per se. But I must say, it does monitor PIDS (Ford lingo for Paramerter ID's) which is awesome. You get spoiled with all that info on your hands. Like Bluejay says I can't imagine my truck without it now.

As Bluejay says, "Can't imagine my truck without it!"
I can't say it any better than that.

I went through all the threads and corresponded with Glenn at Troyers, finally settled on his recommendation for my uses ... the Superchips Flashpaq 1865, partlt because I had also decided on a Scangauge II for monitoring things like trans temp, etc. I do have a CAI tube and cat back exhaust, the 1865 works with both.

I almost went with an Edge but am using a carpeted dash cover and really didn't want the pod set up, the smaller SGII will reside velcroed to a small bracket velcroed at top of steering column ... and I have three other vehicles the SGII will get used in.

I haven't driven it a lot since, and we only set it up on the 87 Octane Performance tune that still allows you to tow up to 4000 lb. ...
... but immediately before I got out of Troyer's parking lot I could tell there was a quicker response to throttle, andf the shifts are much more possitive, with it holding each gear slightly longer even at only 1/2 throttle, and it came home over a mountain staying in OD where it before would jump back and forth leading me to LO the OD.

There's also a heavy tow option that maximizes low speed torque and shift points for towing to max weight ratings ... and a performance tune for no towing ... plus they save the stock tune.

Edge has it's own canned tunes too.

Read the stickies ... lots of info there ... but yeah ... as far as I'm concerned ... much more bang for the buck than either a cat back exhaust or CAI ... or both even ... worth it!

Read the threads, look at Troyer's website, look at his combo packages too. Consult with them or one of the others ... you might want an Edge or other?

I did not want custom tunes for my near stock truck that is going to stay near stock ... no point.

I'm extremely pleased.
