Got my Gryphon!

Well, i ordered my Gryphon last week while i was working out of town (in Hawaii). I got back to the office today and it was delivered today!! Great service! Now, i wait for the custom tunes. I saw that Corey just lost her father yesterday, that is so sad. Her whole family has had a really rough couple of months. I really am not in a rush for tunes.. i seem to be shipped out of town every few weeks for work lately, i think i have driven my truck maybe 300 miles this year. Can't wait to plug her in and play with the new toy.

More importantly, my thoughts and prayers to Corey and her family.

Thanks, Jesse -

I'm sure Corey and Bill appreciate your thoughts.

They seem to be fairly caught up now on custom tuning, so it shouldn't take too long. Make sure Bill has your HEX code though, because nothing happens until he has that.

Until you get the custom tunes though, have fun with your new toy!

- Jack

Congrats on getting your gryphon!!!!!
Now here's a sticky over on php's forum with some info on what to do when you get your hex code.

Thank you also for showing compassion and understanding on the loss of Corey's father.

I emailed my hex on Feb 3rd. and I haven't received anything. Does it typically take a month to receive your tunes?

took me about 2 1/2 months, but with the recant bad going on, I would expect a 3-5 month wait.

Wow! I had no idea it would be that long of a wait.

Yeah, before this happened to Corey, i was ready to wait at least 8-10 weeks before i even inquired.. It's no big deal for me.. the truck still drives, and i have something shiny to look at and use Level 2 in the meantime..

I was looking into getting a Gryphon but was told it wasn't worth the money. How much HP/MPG does it help you gain, or is there not a set amount? What do you guys like about it?

I would not count on any MPG increase (the results are just too varied).

Ford E/F-Series & Expedition Gas Vehicles
$399 + $30 per custom tune
The Gryphon Programmer for the Ford F-Series truck, E-Series van and Expedition has set the pace! With its sleek, in-cab dash mounting pod (currently for F-150 only), it's not just the best programmer, it's the best looking! And talk about functionality... this unit does it all! Just look at these features:

· Gains of up to 35 HP and 45 ft/lbs (5.4L 3-Valve engine)
· Gains of up to 25 HP and 40 ft/lbs (4.6L & 5.4L 2-Valve engine)

Yea thats what I figured, I just thought I heard somewhere that it helps incresase MPG...but my main concern is HP(of course) haha. I'll look at the link you put up when I'm out of school...they got it blocked.

Well I'm glad you are getting to use Level 2. I ended up having to put it back to stock until I get my custom tune. For whatever reason, my truck was not shifting to 2nd gear until 2900-3000 RPM's with me barely on the gas. Last Friday it was shifting so hard that my dash was starting to make a popping noise every time it shifted. At that point I said F it and pulled over, flashed it back to stock and it's be running great ever since. I can barely feel the tranny shifting gears, it idles at a lower RPM, and throttle response is way better. I just don't get why Level 2 will not work for me. So I basically just have a pretty device to look at until I get my custom tunes.

That's odd the shifting is behaving like that??????

Hmm.. that's odd. Granted, i have an 02 and you have an 06.. something may be more finiky with yours. Before, mine would not shift to save it's life, and when it did, it felt like a wet noodle. I actually took the truck in and got the tranny fluid changed, and the filter, much better now. With level 2, reminds me of my first car, 1979 Cutlass Supreme, 305 v8 with a turbo 350 trans, i added a higher stall converter and shift kit, it would bark the tires shifting to second..very happy with my Gryphon level 2 so far..
