I have a 97 250LD with the edge programmer. Great way to improve shift firmness I only use the tow tune but it is a different beast with the edge. I would suggest one to anyone.

I had the first generation on my 98 F150, 4.6, 4x4. I saw a improvements in performance, driveability, and mileage. It dropped 2 tenths in the quater, picked up 1 mpg, on the 92 performance tune (Level 3). I consider it money well spent. I just traded my first gen, in on the current Edge, with dash mount. The gages are a definite improvement. If your considering the Edge, take a look at the PHP Gryphon, basically an updated Edge, that allows custom tunes. I will be sending my Edge in for updating, once I get the job situation striaght.

I've recently tried to put one on my 1997 f150 and the programmer shut down half way through, then powered back on. I tried to start over and it says that it is under nonstock conditions. Does anyone know how I might be able to program it?

1. Try the recovery procedure in the manual.

2. Call Edge Tech Support during bidness hours.

As you have probably found out by now, you are screwed. Your truck won't start and it won't load the program. I had to have mine towed to the dealer and have the PCM reprogrammed to stock. If you have bought an old Edge Monochrome you most likely have a bad cable. The 97 to 03 programmers had cable issues for years and I think that is why Gryphon stopped selling them for our year of truck. I am on my 3rd cable now and so far it seems to be holding. I am hoping they finally fixed this issue.
