is there another way !!!
is there another way !!!
I was given a hypertech programmer for a 04-06 f-150 but i don't know anyone with that year truck to try it out. is there another way to check if it's locked. besides actually hooking up to a truck maybe updateing it or something.
All you are doing is powering it up via the OBDII port - it's CAN bus so no issue there -
The unit should quickly display it's status - locked or not.
It will/should detect an incompatible vehicle & refuse to program, so this is safe.
This
will NOT happen...Liten. To. Tarajerame.

OK guys i'm scared ****less to try that !!!! you sure it wont harm anything i just want to make sure it's not locked so i can sell it . i just may man up and try it . thanks ....
If the programmer is locked, you won't be able to program you truck with it. If it isn't locked, you will be able to. I don't see how you could hurt your truck either way.
However, is SCT one of those that allows a fixed number of vehicles (I think five) to be programmed? If so, and you DO program your truck, you've added to the "count", so it will reduce the number of future vehicles that can be programmed by one.

OP - it's SAFE!. You are just powering it up, NOT programming anything!

Sounds like you are not going to be convinced regardless of what anyone tells you..... so go find an appropriate year truck ....
And, I guess he COULD simply back out of the programming session once he confirms it's not locked, so my question is sort of irrelevant, isn't it? (Guess I need to catch up on my nap time, like Bluejay).
I'll probably meet my "stupid post quota" this month, like always!
