Throttle 'dead spot' is back

When driving along, the is a noticeable dead spot on the throttle just when i start to press the accelerator pedal. As you push the pedal, nothing happens, then all of a sudden the power comes in. Can make for a jerky ride if I'm not paying attention to what Im doing.

Now, i had this 'problem' when the truck was stock, but it disappeared once i added the Edge Evo, and I never thought about it again. But its back!

I have done nothing to the truck, except bring it in for it routine service. And for the record, I return the truck to stock prior to every service visit, no matter what.

It has to be AT LEAST a year since I hooked the Evo up to the cpu to check for updates and I was quite surprised to find out that mine was still current.

Is it possible that the dead spot has returned because Ford, during a service has installed a software update to the trucks computer and Edge has lost focus on the Evo and has their attention on the new line up of units????

I also remember that there was a cure for the dead spot. Something to do with turning the key on and off and pressing the pedal to the metal. There was a sequence of step that would eliminate the dead spot, maybe someone could remind me of those steps if the Evo is no longer going to sort this issue out for me.

Thanks

The dealer MAY have installed a software update to the PCM. About the only way you'd know it is if your HEX code has changed. And, I suspect Edge probably IS putting all their efforts into the CS and CTS now. This kind of thing is pretty normal when new hardware comes out.

I DO remember something about "teaching" the PCM about accelerator pedal movement and position, but I don't recall where I saw it. I don't think it's in the "How To Section", since I've been working in there recently and I think I would have remembered it.

You might try an "advanced" search on the string "accelerator pedal" (enclose it quotes like I did here), or maybe "dead spot", "calibrate accelerator", or "calibrate throttle"? Sorry I can't be more help, I did a quick look in the references I have and didn't come across anything.

I used to experience a slight smiler behavior from throttle back in days when my truck was Stock, My Throttle lag wasn't a big, mainly I was experiencing it when doing long drives at constant speed, as soon as you push the throttle a bite, there is small to no responds, push it little aggressively and it will wake up...

Now with my VMP Xcal3 I have no Issues what so ever!

Good Luck in the Search bro!

Sub-Zero can't fix it? I think he should...

got it! all 3v 5.4 and 6.8 are fly-by-wire, and many have noticed a difference. going out to try in a few minutes.

From what I've read on other forums that does not work. Seems like the "placebo" effect in work.
