Edge screwed my PCM!
Edge screwed my PCM!
So, everything was good. had it programmed on stage 3.
then i noticed when i compared the GPS to the speedo it was way out. so i went into the settings, adjusted them to correct it, gear ratio (since it does't recognize my 3:08) and wheel circumference. but it didn't work, i tried it again, with no luck.
I then tried to re-program the truck back to stock so i could start back a t square 1.
everything went well until the end of the programming. it said it was 100% done but the fuel pump kept going.........and going...and the edge said the programming was complete....
now when i plug the edge in, it cant read the PCM and my truck wont start....
the ODO guage is blank, the pump is on. its like it never finished.
So I'm going to call Edge Monday. the truck is in the ford parking lot thanks to a renewed subscription of CAA. What a PITA.
You clever EVO fellers gotta help me out, I"m afeared I'm gunna need a new PCM or some sort of re-write from ford, thats why i took it there.

Sounds to me as if your battery was weak. You must have a strong battery for programing. Plus, to change settings, you don't need to return to stockbefore entering the new settings. Yes, I think you need to call Edge.

Since i couldn't correct the the settings, i just wanted to start back from scratch. so i tried reseting back to stock. I was going to drive home and reset the truck back on stage 3, drive it again for a few days and then do the wheel circ, gear ratio, Etc; but it didn't quite work out like that.
so i got it towed to the ford dealer, i can walk there. anyways, i took all the precautions, except the cold weather, but its not that cold out, and i've alway had the unit and the truck warm while using it.
my truck battery (6months old) is pumping out 13.7 volts just checked it.
i also shut down everything in the truck, so not to strain the system when programming, that was the deal with the hypertech, so it was habit.

Now I'm no expert and often forget things I've been told but checking the battery (engine off) should be a hair over 12v like 12.2, running should be around 14.4v if the alternator is working good. Just because the battery is newish doesn't mean it's not crap, or the alternator in this case. I do know when my truck was screwing up due to the chip- it wouldn't start. Oddly enough a different battery got it driving home, then nothing after that. Yanked the chip, it ran fine.

This may shed some light on the problem:

Unfortunately it looks like the owner had to send the unit back to Edge.
Here's another thread with more information:

Based on these, if you have a good battery and followed the instructions, I'm not sure there's much we can do to help you. Jack or 88 may have other suggestions.

First, I'm going to say your battery IS NOT putting out 13.7 volts, not unless you took the reading right after charging it while the "surface charge" was still there. However, if it can put out at least 12.2 volts a few hours later, just after you've opened the door to raise the hood, it's probably fine.
The "Code 150" error occurs when the Edge is trying to communicate with the PCM and can't. The most likely reason for this is that the key is not in the "ON" position when the unit reboots.
Try turning the key to the "ON" position, disconnect the OBDII cable from below the dash, and then reconnect. If the PCM's calibration code is displayed on the screen, you MAY be good to go.
It really sounds like the programming back to stock did not complete though. And, I don't know if you can recover this yourself. As others have said, you need to call Edge Tech Support. You MAY need to be able to update the firmware in your Edge to fix this, so a laptop running Fusion would be helpful.
You MAY have the "faulty cable" problem too, since I see you have a pre-04 truck. That may be the cause of the error.

I've got a gel cell battery from rogers communications in the truck.
its worth $450 and is insanly powerful. i fitted it into the battery bay for the truck.
it sits at 13.5 all the time
ya, it didn't finish the programming.
I just can't imagine that the hypertech never gave me a problem, and the GODLY evo did

So i called Edge at 8:00am and no answer......
Thanks to google, i find out that utah is 2hrs behind me in ontario, canada.....
Anyways, i call tech support and the feller there send me a restore for my PCM via the fusion software.
i walked over the the dealership and the reprogrammed the truck.
The EVO returned the truck to stock, and everything is A.O.K
So i got it back on Stage 3, and haven't toched the custom tune area at all. i've got a trip coming up where i will be putting over 100 "miles" atleast on the truck, steady driving....so I'll tweak it after that.
Thanks for coming to the call guys.........it was a stumper but you all came out to put in a few word.
your good people, thanks again. I trust this site, and the f150.net more than any dealer...LOL
PS.
The Edge people are helpful and friendly. it just sucks that when and if this happens again, i gotta call and get a stock program again. to bad they couldn't give you software to customize and save programs...Like a back-up stock program...incase of B.S like this........but wait...then you wouldn't need to send it off to PHP or whatever it is....LOL.

Yeah - these guys get it right sometimes - even BJ
Thanks for posting back - that's great news!
If it happens again - you may want to go looking for the root cause, eh?
