I completely agree. I look forward to finding the answer to this question. I put a call into JDM and they are going to use a 2010 they are putting a supercharger on as a test to see if both traction control AND stabilization can be dissabled.

I think it's the light up on the top of the dash that starts blinking now and then after you turn the ignition key OFF. (Sort of means you're not driving any more.)

Edit: Just so you'll know, I had someone close to me killed by a drunk driver - but I DO see the humor in your post, and am not offended by it.

No offense taken, I have also lossed a loved one to those that think "Miller Time" is on the way home, so my "Miller Time" light is when the garage door light comes on!

I havent heard that term for awhile. My mom used to say that when us kids were rambling on and on about nothing of course when we were little she would also give us benadryl before road trips and flick water in our face when we started crying too so, yep I am officially having verbal diarhea! lol

I use my truck to pull the toys to the sand dunes, but every once in a while we all get our trucks out there and play in the sand too. I won't be able to do a damn thing with this traction control trying to take over all of the time. The tires DO spin when you try and race in the sand, and they definitely spin when you try to climb one of the bigger dunes...I'm going to go insane if I'm the only truck out of the group that can't do anything because the computer won't let me.

Right now, we have about 6" of snow on the ground, and I can't even manage to do a decent donut because of this system. If you turn the TC off, you can spin like crazy in first gear, but as soon as it shifts into second...it is right back on, and with the 6 speed...1st gear doesn't do a whole lot of good (unless you want to do 4mph donuts).

Needless to say, I'm definitely looking forward to getting a decent tuner that can turn the TC system off...I have been driving since I was 16 without it, and have never had a wreck....so I'm pretty sure I can manage this truck (that is half the size of my old one) without it. The last thing I need is some "armchair expert" running their mouth (aka verbal diarrhea) and telling me why I need it, or why I should have bought a different truck. All I'm looking for is some real feedback from somebody who actually has a system to turn this off.

Well I have no response for the TC system or a tuner that will correct your 4 mph donuts! Where do you go to the dunes at? We go to Little Sahara in Oklahoma. Its about 6 hours with trailers. Never had much desire to take my truck onto the dunes, but we sure have fun with the quads out there.

We go to Silver Lake in Michigan, great little dunes...but nothing compared to what you guys have out west. It is about a 4 hour ride pulling a trailer each way, but definitely worth it...there is no other place like it within a days drive for me. I spend most of the time on my RZR-S or Raptor, but it is fun to hit the "drag strip" with the trucks every once in a while or play around on the hills. I have yet to take my F-150 out there, but I spent a bit of time on the sand with my old F-250.

*bump* Just curious if anyone has had any luck disabling the TC, or has any updated information on whether JDM has had any success with their test vehicle?

found this on another forum (don't ban me bro!) and thought it might be of some interest to you all as this is exactly what I'm concerned about regarding the TC/SC system:

"okay took it to a nice sandy dirt field today and this is what I found.

2wd TC kicked in and I can hear the rear breaks being applied to rear axle to keep BOTH wheels moving. This worked as it only took me 1-2 seconds to move under full throttle.

2wd TC pressed sliding car shown on dash board. Wheels spun faster until The back end started to move to the left. Then the noticeable sound of the breaks engaging to stop spinning one tire and send power to the other. Took 2-3 seconds of this under full throttle get momentum to move the truck forward

2wd TC button Held for 5 seconds. Full Throttle one tire spun with out TC or any form of stability control kicking in. NO forward progress just one wheel partially buried in dirt.

My impressions are that the stability control works and actually improves your OFF ROAD ability in 2WD........ this being said I have an 2009 FX4 and have not tried this system with the Traction Control on in MUD or Low traction situations. But if it acts like this in 2wd I would imagine that in 4wd you simply hold down the TC button for 5 seconds and can have the free wheeling fun you want or need to power out of a low traction situation. I wonder if this is the same system as on the FJ cruiser and if so I say the Traction Control system is great and will be an ASSET in MOST not all situations. OF COURSE I am not then end all be all for this and this is just my humble opinion and hope people see it as another injection of findings."

Edit: just a thought, given that many ECUs mainly rely on hex tables for look-up values, someone (I'm looking into this myself actually) should be able to find the value that corresponds to the 35MPH re-engage speed and change it to something higher. Just like modifying the speed limiter. This does, of course, assume that the main engine computer is controlling this (as opposed to some off-board computer feeding the engine computer)

So...I guess no definite answer on programming to turn off TSC & ESC. My buddy (having fun, driving like a fool) was driving his 2011 4X4 today and had the TSC off. He tried drifting around a wide 90 degree pavement corner and it kicked back on and without instant response on his part he probably would have flipped it. So guess i'm just bumping this question.
