Can i remove Torque Management

I recentely installed a 9" rear end and no longer have a tone ring. This effected the torque management and locked it in level 11. Is there a way to safely remove torque management using my gryphon or having a tech remove it at Ford?

Wow! I don't think there's any way for YOU to do it using a Gryphon. Bill could possibly do it since I know he "adjusts" it in his tunes. If you had Ford do it, it would probably interfere with your custom tune(s).

I think this is a question for PHP - I'd talk to Bill.

I tried contacting bill or Corey today with no luck. I'm sure there probably 100 people here that know more about this subject than I do. Feel free guys.

What's the application? The exciter ring serves as the VSS on a lot of older vehicles. The VSS is a pretty essential part of PCM input.

Torque management can cover a wide range of transmission functions, but Ford doesn't use much torque management in the later programming. What are you hoping to accomplish when you say you want to eliminate torque management?

Intresting, after I installed my blower the truck would from time to time throw a code PO61B internal control module torque calculation performance. This would usually happen at the line on the drag strip. While holding the brake and giving it just a little gas the wrench light and check engine light would come on. Truck would fall on its face, spit and sputter. Shut it down and restart it and it would run like nothing ever happened. Whipple said the tune would need to be written to exclude torque management. SCT is working on this as Fast Lane wasn't sure what to do about it. SCT is still working on my throttle sensitivity. I'm about fed up with them.

Torque management is a "catch all" phrase. At one time Ford pulled timing out of the PCM at the point a shift was to occur to soften the shift. Reducing timing did reduce torque. The newer PCMs use transmission line pressure, slips times and torque reduction to control how a vehicle shifts. Some of these parameters are based on torque calculations, but there are no longer any strategies to reduce engine torque.

My problem is similar to twinskrewd when the engine and wrench light comes on after about 1 minute of driving. The first minute it drives great with torque calc at off position then after the first minute it falls on it's face and sputter/ won't shift to overdrive, that's when torque management goes to level 11. I'm reading all this on my gryphon. The engine light and wrench comes on the same time as level 11 torque.

So what I would be trying to accomplish is to getting truck running normal again. Bill has been imposable to get ahold of this week, tried email/phone. He's probably really busy, thats understood.
