SCT vs Gryhon for 06 4.2L

After researching im seeing that the SCT and the Gryphon are both about 399.

Troyer $449 w/ 3 tunes
PHP $399 +30 each tune.

Both allow for customer tunes.
SCT allows for stock +3 customers
Gryphon Only 3 tunes and you have to overwrite 1 to get custom tunes.

Gryphon has dash pod with info that some may or may not care about.

Troyer and PHP both reputable companies, do any tune better for the 4.2 v6?

Am I correct in my info. Someone should really put a sticky together comparing these things.

Don't forget about the SCT XCAL3 from Justin Starkey @ VMP (www.vmptuning.com).

I got it shipped with 3 custom tunes installed for $414, and I'm impressed.

I have to agree with TheDutchman, I am very pleased with Justin's service and product. I got my SCT X3 downloaded with 3 custom tunes for $400 plus shipping and I received it in less than a week and a half!

Our no phone week is next week. If you can hold of until then, I'll try to work up a side-by-side comparison of the X3/SF3 and the Gryphon.

That would be cool. I see a lot of posts in here wanting to know about them. Someone with more knowledge then me could put together a sticky. Its better then people posting and getting know answers because people are tired of answering.

coming from a guy that owned a 97 4.2l and 05 4.2l and has dealt with Troyer and VMP. When it comes down to the 4.2L you will probably want VMP. 3.8L Stangs had parts the were even swapable with the 4.2l's. Troyer is my fav F150 tuner but after talking with him he is crazy backed up on tunes so good luck not to mention he's more of a V8 specialist. You don't have anything crazy and VMP has a pretty fast turn around time if I remember correctly but it all honest you just going to get a canned tune anyway.

I'd recommend VMP Tuning. Great product, great turn around, and Justin is always helpful.

I told my wife I would get better gas mileage and that it makes the engine last longer by correcting the air/fuel ratio, blah, blah, blah. I lost her at "mileage"

PorkCereal - If Groovy Chick gives you a side by side comparison, I think you can take it to the bank!

I have NEVER seen her promote PHP's product over any competing brand. In fact, I have often seen her steering customer's to other brands or tuners when she felt PHP could not meet their needs as well.

Bill Cohron, Mike Troyer and Justin Starkey are ALL reputable tuners and have many supporters on these forums.

I'd actually advise talking to ALL of them, not us, to see what they can do for YOU!
